What i said was my on the matter. I didnt say that i dont want customers to come in to have there cars worked on OR dont want them to own the cars that they now own now did i ? I just stated that they are BIG piece's of shit. Get your facts straight.

I have customer's that had e30's before and wish they had never sold them compared to the e46/e60/e90's they are driving now they are just unhappy. Not with having to pay more for service, just that the cars are always having issues.;)

Between the 2 models- if god took all the e30's of the face of the earth and i had to choose. I would drive an e36 over an e46. I have owned about 6 e36's. E46's i wouldn't touch if my life depended on it bro.

All the work I had to do to replace the crank position sensor on my E36 was such a PITA. Really just about everything I have done on that car is a pain.

I cried when I saw where the crank position sensor was on my E30 and how easy it was to get to and replace. 5 minute job vs the hours spend pulling everything to get to it on my E30.

Anyone that has a hard time working on e46s shouldn't be working on cars. Biggest pita I've dealt with on one is a/c evaporator (dashboard out job) and that wasnt even that bad.

E36 a pain to work on? Seriously? I've had 3 of them and I cant think of any particular job that was more complicated than any other car I have owned.

And to further compound my frustration:
Finally get the old ball joint out of the trailing arm, and the replacement that I bought is too small. Called Pelican, determined that I ordered the correct PN but it was somehow mis-packaged. New one will be here tomorrow.

                      Hopefully it fits.

I had to remove the intake manifold which was a PITA. I couldn't get a socket securely on the last nut all the way in the back too so I had to pull the valve cover. Also had to pull the upper radiator hose.

For my first go around it took a while. Having done it I could do another one in a lot less time. 20 minutes is pretty damn quick. You must have shape shifting hands to get to the wiring harness, I doubt I'd be able to get to it with the manifold or oil filter housing still in place with my hands.

Looking at E46 leather wearing out prematurely reminds me how good the E30 does it's thing.
