Meh. I wouldn't qualify most as highly modified. A 24v swap isn't a highly modified car. Nor is most factory motor swaps.

Highly modified is reworking the suspension geometry. Tube frames. Cantilever suspension. Other make engines. Not really many of those running around in comparison.

Not arguing your point. At all. But even those with GC coils and an S50 aren't "Highly modified". Just a stiff suspension with a motor swap.

My DD E30 is very "adult" and "Professional". It has more rare Hartge an AC Schnitzer parts in it than some people touch in their E30 lifetime. Just kinda happened that way. VERY comfortable, but still very sporting.

My E30 shares DD duties with the 97 M3.

I have no complaints with either.

I'm going to preface this saying I'm not trying to be a dick, just trying to fully understand the bar you're setting. What do you qualify as reworking suspension geometry? Do offset bushings and camber plates not count? Also, tube frames? How many tube frame cars are run on the street (other than kit cars)? Yeah, M5x and S5x swaps are within the same make, they do require a good amount of work. Also the S5x swap gives about 100hp increase over an M20, which I personally view as a large modification.

Your car sounds very clean, and not at all what I was getting at. Spency specified fuh raze, which is where I was going with it. Maybe I'm just soft, but full suspension, wheels, and an engine swap fits my bill for "highly modified".

I do not qualify offset bushings and camber plates as highly modified. While technically it is altering the geometry. It isn't enough for me to change my view on the car.

Most kit cars are done with a donor chassis. Not necessarily a tube frame. You know this already, not getting into detail. But you are helping me drive my point. A tube frame car is going to be a highly modified one, and not necessarily one for the street.

Bah. M5x S5x swap takes a weekend. 3 days at most. It's pretty much all bolt stuff in and play. Nothing for real modification. A more powerful modification. But still not a highly modified car.

Psssh. My cars dirty as fuck. and rusty. It is what it is for looks. However, I'm very strict and demanding of it's upkeep and maintaining it. Just because it doesn't look the best though, doesn't mean I'm not going to want it to be reliable, the epitome of comfort, and very capable occasional spirited driving. If you say my body looks like crap, I won't take offense. Because quite frankly. Mine, and my cars body look like crap.

This very, very, very well could be because I'm a hard lined bastard. and nothing against you or your opinion. I just come from a field of view where "Highly modified" means just that. A car that doesn't resemble what it originally was.

The easiest way I can describe my way of thought is to take a regular E30 M3. and line it up to a DTM M3. The DTM M3 would be highly modified. Complete suspension remake, Custom control arms, brakes. Modified to the teeth S14. The whole 9 yards.

Everything up until that point, I would define as "Street Modified". Because a Highly modified car, is a dedicated track car. Or one really, REALLY well built and designed badass car that is still being driven on the street without destroying itself.

An E30 with an S5x that has been built for either FI, or all motor. Suspension rebuild with everything adjustable (Which means a different type of subframe). Lightweight wheels. Caged. Not much for interior. Flame extinguisher system. Custom lots of stuff. something not really designated for road use would be highly modified

Stock S50. Dropped (Adjustable or not). Still has an interior. Still has radio. Nice, clean, Aftermarket wheels. Still maintaining stock fit and form. Street modified

A car that is stanced out, I would define as broken. And I would say that to an owners face. But I wouldn't hold it against the man and hate him for him trying to fit into a certain place that he likes.

I'm not going to quote all that, but fair enough. You do make valid points. I guess I was just looking at it as "highly modified" for the street.
