hey, if 'self-imposed' asking prices are generally agreed upon, has the market value not gone up?

+1..if asking prices become selling prices, that becomes the market value.
The first car I ever rode in was an e30

That said. 2g's. I will never pay more for an E30 that's not an M3, Hartge, ACS, Alpina, Or Mtech2

Well I have a car right up your alley. :)

I'm totally unfamiliar with the PA e30 market but I'm sure this car would go quickly for $3000 in the PNW.

2 different 318is slicktops went over $8K this month on eBay, and one of those didn't make the reserve. I would have bought one, but my wife promised to cut my nuts off in my sleep if I put in a bid on another "vintage BMW."

$4000. That baby's been worked over nicely.
I bought my 215,000 mile 91' 318i for $800, and have dumped a few thousand into it so far.
Still not where I want it cosmetically, but it'll be "there" soon.

Couldn't see it going for more the $3k. It is after all an m42 sedan Is there any less a disable late model than that? Its also not mint with cut springs. Still a nice car thoug and probably the most practical e30.

Those are nice and rare, but I don't think there worth $8k to anyone here. Correct me if I'm wrong
I want a nice set of smoked MHW's (I know, get it line)

I said late model and I love me a clean bronzit. Why does everyone hate it? You rarely see a clean one.

I would say there are some nice 4D 325e's, you wouldnt know they are Eta's form the appearance...

And bronzits can be nice, but you gotta have the touch.

either way I would pay 3k for it.

Paid 2300 for mine out of Houston a few months back. Yours is a whole lot nicer then mine. I would go 3 to 4k.(no matter what TurboJake says)
I almost picked up one for 6k but could not connect with the guy before he sold it.

the hate on the m42 is unjustified.

My first e30 was that exact same car with 120k (not as clean). suspension was completely original and shot. Interior was nice. Paid $800 for it. Just a thought. Loved it to death btw.

yes, but prices are not what they used to be...even a year ago. i bought my 325is in june 2010 for $900 in immaculate condition, but that's not typical nor can it be expected.

i'd say that OP's car should fetch >$3k in today's market most definitely.
