The best BMW model range lineup was E30 ,E34 and E32 circa 1991. this lineup will never be bested.

E46, E39, and E38 come in close second. apart from their engines, current BMWs do nothing for me.

Bringing back the conservative boxy styling would be a step in the right direction though.

They just need to make every new chassis on the E46 body, period.

E32 blows, I would give the edge to e46 e39 e38 and your forgetting e36/4 roadster and coupe. This lineup easily beats e30 e34 e32. Your also forgetting e31 and z1 (whatever that was) Unless you mean 3 5 and 7's only.

To me the e46 is just another 3 series. There was the e30. And then the rest are kinda like an evolution starting at e36 until now.
I want a nice set of smoked MHW's (I know, get it line)

            Since a 2.7L engine went into a 325e.

I like it, looks really muscular and sporty compared to the chubby E90. The Econo thing looks interesting too. If it logs stats and goals I'd totally fall for it, I'm a sucker for stat logging in video games. Not sure if the Prius already does this but who cares about the Prius mirite?

I keep looking at the figures and being impressed, but when it comes down to it, its still ugly as shit.

The hood. Why does it have a long ass line across the front like that? It doesn't follow or match anything. No contour or anything. This car is hideous and is exactly the drastic turn in styling they did when the went to the e36 from the e30.

Tie a steak somewhere around it and not even a dog could love it.

I got to drive one as well. And for anyone that doesn't know the new 528i has the same turbo 2.0. People at work were making fun of it by putting "Gas saver" and "4 cylinder" stickers on it, but it actually felt very quick for a 4 banger pushing a big 5 series.

Some people will always be upset by change. I like it and I can't wait for the coupe to roll out. However will probably never be able too afford one and I am quite attached to my E30 even if it is currently a heap.

Didn't know that, I never really thought about it. It seems weird having a 5 series be powered by a 4 cylinder.

Looks pretty good to me....love the performance and economy aspect. Really blows all competition out of the water. Only thing that comes close is the A3tdi. Guys keep bitching about size weight, blah blah blah its no e30. I inderstannd this is an e30 forum but shit our cars are ancient.

You cant compare a modern safe car to our rolloing death traps. Compared to its peers, the c-class, a4, is250, g35, it should spank them. I have a e90 and its a fantastic car compared to the competion. For fun the e30 wins but all around the e30 cant hold a candle to my e90, and the f30 should be even better. I am positive this engine will win multiple awards. I was not keen on the new styling of the 5er but I have seen some that look dead tits when in black with sports package. BMW have done a great job of making these new cars not look as big as they are. I am sure in a years time the style will grow on everyone,,,, and europes pedestrian crash saftey mandates dictate a lot of the styling.

Meh...in order for it to be competitive it would be a super peaky turbo'd inline 4...
