Does turning on your heater really make the car faster?

I don't remember from where, but I've heard that turning on the heater in your car makes it faster. Is this true? When I was driving up a hill today, my brother turned on the heater in the car, and I swear that the car felt stronger. I wouldn't say that the car gained horsepower, but it wasn't struggling as much. And I remember driving in the Colorado mountains and seeing signs to turn on the heater. Can somebody explain this?

On average, a 325i will gain 50hp from turning the heater on but usually a bit more during Summer.

        Are you serious?

People turn their heater on up big hills because it helps keep cars from over heating.

Yeah man, I run my heater all the time. I gain an additional 60hp, plus an additional 10hp for every sticker I have :pimp:

No road in Colorado says this. Where you on crack or acid when driving on said road?

Turning the heat on is comparable to vetch kicking in. IT WILL MELT YOUR FACE WITH RAW POWER.

                Honestly tho man, really?

It does make the car faster through corners but only if you divert the hot air through ducts that dump it out just under the front valance. The hot air flows under the car creating a low pressure zone which creates more down force. This is called the R3v blown diffuser and works great.

I did it to my car and was able to shave 4 seconds off a lap at the local track.

if your car is running hot, switching on your heater draws heat from the motor and helps disapate it.
i've noticed it drop the temp gauge by 1/8-1/4 mark while in traffic, but it sucks having to have all windows down and sunroof one, vents pointed away from you lol.

if you know you are GOING to over heat, do this.
