Does the injector part bother you too.:D
MS is fine, I've been running it on my car for about 5 years.
It can be "tough" to tune if you have no clue as to how an engine works and what will melt a motor if you fuck up. Is all you'll be able to do is post on forums asking for somebody else's tune ( which won't work on your car ) and post about how it never did run correctly.
Honestly putting a standalone on your car is an advanced project even if it's mechanically simple swap to the ECU. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying that you can't learn if you have no clue but without some serious time spent you will be nothing but frustrated. If you tend to be one of those folks that expects satisfaction without the work, buy a fucking chip.

just stop posting.^ if you are running megasquirt... boviously your stock intake is gone. A miller MAF is a proven gain... and using the MS MAP sensor means little resistance for the intake air. More air means you need more fuel which means more power... duh
If you run MS on stock injectors you must like a lean AF ratio

this is the truth! I have MS, its sitting in a box collecting dust after pulling the turbo off my car. Nothing ever seemed to work 100% correctly, (i think it was the crappy innovative widebands fault)and was way too much trouble trying to get my car to always run correctly. Maybe cause I am computer dumb, It's a lot to figure out, and with no one to help you and show you the ropes, it is no joke.

I think the best thing to do is find out is Anyone in your area is running MS, even honda guys, and if they would help you out. I believe if I could have had someone to really show me how everything is supposed to work, I would be a using the system on all of my cars. with ZERO help on it in Germany, it was just too overwhelming- and the fact my car was not street legal (so I only had plates) except every so often for the car and by then I forgot what I had learned the last time.Comment

I'm running megasquirt on 2 Mercedes. Don't kid yourself, its a big project that demands a lot of time and effort to get it running well. I'm 2 years in and I'm still dicking around with some of the settings. If you have OCD you're going to love it. Between the 2 cars I probably have 30k miles on MSQ. MSQ on its own won't net you huge power gains on an NA engine but if you're running boost it makes life a lot easier. If you expect something even remotely plug and play, forget about it. The MSextra forums are useful, the hardware and software manuals are useful but in the end you need to know what you're doing and have the patience to tune every aspect just right. In my case it was all worth it just so I never have to look at KEjet ever again. Instant cold starts, much healthier top end, about 15% better FE and the ability to diagnose any problem with my laptop was just a bonus. You can make MSQ as cheap and simple or expensive and complex as you want. My first MS1 setup cost $350, MS2 on the second car was $500.Last edited by tjts1; 12-02-2011, 09:30 AM.
