Why does r3v hate subarus?

I was scanning the area and have found that there's a general opinion in here that subarus suck.

I realize part of this may be because of how much they differ from our e30's, but i've always thought that when I need to buy a family car, i would be buying a WRX instead of a camry or an suv.

Has anyone actually WORKED on a subaru flat engine? Thats a big part of ownership. Any normal job is easily 4 times harder on a subaru. The only "simple" job is removing the top mount intercooler. Simple things like spark plugs and valve cover gaskets suck, the drive belt is a mile long, and the engine block comes broken in half from the factory- yea awsome design

Read up on the new BRZ engine- 2L, 200hp NA, 7400rpm stock redline, flat torque band. Pretty impressive IMO for a company that doesn't do NA.

sounds mediocre to me, everyother manufacturer and their mother has made an engine with these specifications..years ago

sounds like you have never worked on one. valve cover gaskets can be done in under 1 hour, plugs can be done in 30 minutes.

working on the subaru is just as easy as working on an E30, suspension work is by far easier than an E30 and engine work is about the same.
