This looks to be important info. Josh claims he closed the account back when the funds went missing. How is it the same e-mail (eurospeed88@gmail.com) address was used 10 months ago?

As someone that uses Paypal everyday I feel it is in Josh's best interest to get the old account back up and track the info and find where the money went. I can track my paypal into right back to the very day I made it.
I have known Josh for a good bit and I find him a pleasure to talk to, for now I will just pray he can figure out what happened and where it went. I'm not here to cast stones, GGraves has been in a situation that raised brows here and he resolved it and got his good name back and giving back to the community with AMAZING e30 goodies.Leave a comment:

This is true, PayPal use to have dismal service and was not very secure. Ebay neglected Paypal a great deal for years, including the time frame where this event transpired.
However, anyone who runs a business or understands business would have insulated themselves from personal liability. When you start an LLC, or Corporation you are not liable for debts of the business, unless you mix up personal and business expenses. That is exactly what has happened here. There were mixed personal accounts with a 'business' account, and that never should have been done. Anyone with any business experience, or with a few hours of searching and reading on the web could have figured this out.
He should be held liable for the donations. It doesn't matter if he was hacked or not, whether the money was lost with neglect, malice, or theft. He is the one who set up donations where he had unlimited liability; on purpose, accident, or by negligence.
Ignorance, is not an excuse. It sucks it happened, and the effects could have been mitigated if he was open and honest about it the moment it happened. They still have the possibility of being mitigated by the release of all the information possible.
Regardless, you don't get off the hook for liability just because you 'didn't know'. This isn't Enron.
EDIT: I'm not saying we are responsible for holding him accountable monetarily, social pressure is the only tool at our disposal. I would love to see more details posted so we can figure out exactly what happened.Leave a comment:

this would be a fair solution IF he was actually guilty of anything. It seems to me that a quick, honorable solution to this unfortunate situation is for Josh to liquidate some fancy, easy to sell parts like wheels, seats, or similar to generate Yan's money and then he can save up to replace his own parts.
Perhaps some locals could help with some usable parts to keep Josh's car on the road in the interim.
to play devils advocate here, the only thing Josh is guilty of is not informing the community in the timely fashion....if at all, if it wasn't for this thread being bumped.
the money went somewhere. That's something neither of us will truly be privy to knowing.
point is, the community raised a little over $1800 for Yan in efforts to repair is M3.
Trusted mod. of R3V arranged, hosted and collected donations from members.
thread fizzles out and dies.
Paypal account is "forgot' and nary a check is made on it throughout that time until realized the funds are gone.
Spent time with Paypal on phone upwards to THIRTY MINUTES...TWICE...trying to find a solution.
loses interest.
doesn't tell members of community who donated until whistle is blown.
...
....I guess I started writing this thread with the concept of actually trying to play devils advocate, but after actually spelling it out it's pretty ugly and I will not go on.Leave a comment:

I saw Yan about this time last year when I was picking up my M3 in VA. As of that time, the M3 had not been repaired. The car looks good, and with todays market would still fetch good money, but Vlad F*ed it up, it was easy to see even in a dimly lit garage. I saw the car multiple times when we were stationed in Germany, and the respray made it worse.Leave a comment:

According to paypal:
Re: Changing/Closing my Paypal Account
You would need to close the old account and open a new one. Note, you would also need an new email address. Once you register an email address with PayPal for an account, the system won't permit you to reuse it for a new account.Leave a comment:

I don't know how that email address is still being used for that Paypal account, it was closed, that's not the email address I use for Paypal now.Leave a comment:
