Might as well add my 2 cents.

I work in an IT support center you all would be blown away but what people do sometimes weather by mistake, unknowing, or simple stupidity.

Its not that far fetched to not realize money is being taken out of your account. I myself have 3 email addresses one of which my paypal goes to which I would be lucky to check once a month, not to mention I never log into paypal to check my funds I only log in to make a payment which shows nothing about current balance.

I would like to know the email address that the paypal account was changed to. The internet can provide some very amazing results with just some simple details.

Even if the account is closed Paypal would still hold the record and I am sure Josh could request to have it restored or the information delivered to him if need be.

Oh and WTF like this was 3 years ago it seems like it only happened yesterday.

Just quoting cause it's pretty much what I was going to say too.

I'm also sure that the ones who are comfortable enough to donate more than $20 sent a message or two to Josh asking what's up.
From Yan's experience on not filing a lawsuit against Vlad for what he did to his car and just "letting it go" to be at peace, it isn't in him to start a thread saying "I never got my $2k+ donation". So yeah - I also believe it was kept secret, if that's the right word to call it, from the community.

If I were the one that made the thread, and was doing the funding and something like this happened. I would have posted about it immediately with some logs on PayPal just to steer clear of being scrutinized. Seems sketchy.

So this is why this thread is being bumped. Poor Yan. I never understood his decision to ship his car to Vlad for a simple paint job. His car has had work done on it in several different states. Perhaps because he's in the military? I assumed Yan got his car fixed but just stayed away perhaps due to the initial ordeal but that did strike me as odd. Now it makes perfect sense. Josh, you really should have come clean when it happened. You probably would have had more support than you do now.

Just under $2000, I can't remember the exact amount.

I swear on my life, it was no higher, no matter what phreshkid presumes.

this thread was from a really long time ago. i consider myself a man of principle and integrity beyond all means. however, i have to say reading this is like watching an episode of the kardashians. i.e.: its turned into too much of a reality show, thus i find myself not giving a fuck.

    let this shit rest please.

I'm not out for some sort of public crucifixion - I'd just like to know the guy who the funds were raised for didn't get screwed twice over. How the funds were lost doesn't really matter, as the end result and the consequences are the same.

When Vlad was exposed to the community as a fraud, the administrators of this forum were the only ones with the balls to do something about it and hold him accountable; to my knowledge none of the other forums took any meaningful action.

The same appears to be happening again, and I appreciate the way this situation's being handled.

Might be a start. (A screen caps of the fund transfers might go a long way toward clearing this up too.)

If there are any future fund raisers, can we let Blunt be in charge of the money? Since he's the closest thing we have to a community "elder" on here. (I mean that in a good way Steve)

I think Josh conveniently "deleted" his paypal account after he was "hacked". I wonder what email address he was accepting funds through when the fundraiser went down, versus what email he is accepting funds through now?

If Josh could provide screen shots, then we might also be able to get a total amount fundraised, which I'd wager is significantly larger than the $2000 that people are throwing around.

Too many questions, I know, but it's imperative that we know the truth. There is key information that (I believe) is being withheld from us. I don't think we have all the facts to bestow proper judgement, which in my opinion, is a good thing.

    I have a hunch.

Edit: Not trying to crucify Josh, just want fairness. Also, I've always secretly wanted to be a lawyer.

Kept secret? This is the first anyone has heard of it.

If the perpetrator had access to my PP account, they likely had access to my email, as well. I immediately changed my Google password following the incident, and have changed it regularly since. If the person responsible had been following this thread and saw the amount that had been accumulated so far, not to mention knew of me and knew my activity, they would likely have been able to breach more than just my PP account. My Google password wasn't very secure, either... My suspicion is that as things were changed in my PP account, emails were intercepted and deleted before I had the chance to view them, then the email changed so any further notifications didn't even get to me. It might sound crazy, but it's the only thing I can think of.
    Makes sense.

Just went and changed all my passwords...
