I suppose so, but not all of us would want a high mileage stock M50 running boost through a junkyard turbo kit.

But I am not talking about a junkyard turbo kit here. None of my parts are junkyard, they're all new, and the same thing could be done with a M50 E30. SO what is the motor bought has 100k on it, it won't blow.

No offense, but high mileage motors are not really ideally for forced induction. Sure it can work, but its borrowed time.

Well the majority of people assume you must have a rband new motor if you're going to boost your car and that's just not true

you could also spend a grand on suspension, $300 on tires, and do DEs for a season and end up faster around a track with your stock motor than most m50 street fools

It took me about a year of convincing Heeter to stop modding his damn car and drive it. Alas, after just one event he realized he's a complete idiot for pouring money into a car that is already way, way behind his capability.

But, you can't convince the world.

I agree. Come out to Putnam next weekend and see 5 e30s (without waffleswaffleswaffleswaffleswaffles Will or Dave with not having a trackworthy e30 right now), four with m20s, doing something cooler than a junkyard turbo m50 or euro tires.

If Jet H is out there, we could probably line up a ride for you in his K-prepared car if he hasn't sold it. Hell, a M10-powerfed car with an instructor driving on R comps should open yours eyes even.

gotta walk before you can crawl. If you do all your own labor, you can do a 2.5 M50 for $5k.

If I had $5K to put into my car, again, I'd fix everything, springs/shocks/bushings/CAs, Azenis, ditch the cat and head to the track.

Rick Vaughn will put an M50 in your car for $5k turnkey. You don't even have to worry about buying the parts or anything.

now i know it seems this way but i didnt buy the coilovers to slam my car i bought them because i wanted great handleing and ride hieght adjustability, but it turned out these are a little softer than i wanted but they will do. All the parts for the turbo kit im looking at are new, and the m50 i found only had 60k on it, but im not buying stuff yet so that doesnt matter. I still cant decide what to do i think my best bet would be the m50 because its the easier of the motorsto do ....but i dont know.

I would really like to come out to putnamville but i have to work all weekend.......

I want to get at least one school under my belt before hot lapping for fun, but yeah for sure man. I'm pissed off at myself for not getting out this year, but I have a firm intent on doing as much as I can afford next year. It's mostly because I worked Friday evenings and Saturdays all year, when most of the events were. I now have Saturdays off, so some full-day sessions are definitely in the plans. No more mods planned at all, just doing some brake maintenance before the first school.

There is a V8 powered m3 running in Street Mod in SCCA. Check out http://www.edgemotorworks.com/

It will dispell all the myths about the weight of the blocks etc. You'd be surprised that even the Chevy LSx motors are lighter than most 6 cylinder set up. The site will also give you a reality check on the the tuning required to get everything setup and kosher.

The downside of the Edge setup is that it took a lot of custom fabbing and its an E36. The M50/S50 swap is much easier to perform in comparison.
