Comments/ Opinions on Magnaflow mufflers, please?

Right now I am running a 2 1/4" exhaust with a high flow cat and a Flowmaster muffler on my 85 325e. Don't worry it looks tastefull, I have duel side by side 1.5" tips painted black out of the left rear.
Lately I grown tired of the rumble and interior resonance under 3k rpms. It's weird, the car is only real loud at low RPMs.

I want to switch mufflers to something thats alot quieter. I read a write up on a car where they switched out it's flowmasters for some magnaflows, and it got quieter and made a little more power.

What are your experiences with Magnaflow, are they significantly quieter than Flowmaster?

    Thanks

My friend had a Flowmaster on his 325e, it was DEEP, sounded nice. Anyways, if you have some money, or can find a used one, Supersprint makes quiet cat backs.

We are going to use Magnaflow 12588 on our turbo 325i. We are using a similar muffler on the 535i and it is acceptable. My guess is that you'll still have a little resonance but nothing like the FLowmaster.

Don't get me wrong, it sounds good sometimes, like reving it up or when I get on it, but around town with the windows open it's a bit much.

I would love a supersprint, but I don't think I would be able to afford even a used one right now. Where would I get a used one? Is it possible to get just a supersprint universal muffler?

        Thanks

          Could you add a resonator?

IE and supersprint are good quiet ones. ive heard maganaflows on a e36 325i and a Mcoupe, and they were pretty loud and deep. the magnaflow on the Mcoupe was setting off alarms below 2.5k rpm, but then again thats a totally different exhaust design.

I can post video clips of my 325is with magnaflow muffler and without it.

I can't remember if my neighor put a dynamax or magnaflow muffler on his M50 E30...straight-piped....

I think it was the latter though. In a word: LOUD.

I could hear him on his way from easily 1/2 mile down the road.

I might be underestimating that figure come to think of it...

I had a Magnaflow rear muffler and a medium sized magnaflow resonator on my 325is with 2.5inch piping and no cat and it was pretty damn loud. I doubt it's quieter than your flowmaster.

I am running a Magnaflow muffler and resonator with 2 1/4" on my m42 and it is pretty loud. A friend of mine has a B&B Tri Flow (Loud) and sounds just about the same. I set off car alarms in parking garages but thats not saying much. A lot of cars alarms are way too sensitive.

Magnaflow and Borla are both very good sounding mufflers for the E30 without spending a lot of money.
