    Interchangeable ECU's?

Does anyone have any experience successfully running different versions of the Motronic ECU in their cars? I've read "yes" some places and "no" others. My ECU ends with 380 and has a yellow sticker. Being that the mechanic is pretty sure mine is fried I might be in the market for one and didnt know if theyre interchangeable. Thanks!

      Any motronic 1.1 or 1.3 ecu will work - 153, 173, 380, 525, etc..

Cool. So you've personally done this or know someone that has?

never personally experienced but from researching, 153 is motronic 1.1 and has more hardware (dual pcb). also has some internal issues with hardware; another common issue which most report is idle.

1.3 is a good firmware revision and has better hardware (only one pcb) the others (380, 525 etc) are further revisions but are interchangeable; all are motronic 1.3. If you swap, most have good results with 173 and not sure on the later

becareful of the 154 (i think) as its revised motronic 1.0 running "super eta" setup. the injectors are low impedance so would explode if put into a b25 setup. believe the connectors are the same as the 55 pin which runs motronic 1.1 and 1.3 so it WILL plug right in...

been a while so i could be wrong on some things.

            154 is still 1.1, not 1.0

The hardware on all 1.1 are the same, same with 1.3. Firmware differences are minor. Theyre both 55 pin and have the same pinout.
