that was mine right after the engine was dropped in. I never even got a photo of it all finished. :(
My next build/swap is gonna be the cleanest ever.. :D
I thought the engine bay of your black coupe looked perfect imo. I look forward to your next one.
some one else said it as well, the VW/AUDI shaved clean look bays are cool too look at...sometimes when i feel like i want to buy a honda and throw acura badges on it and call it JDM as Fuck.
other than that, a clean bay neatly done with all functional parts(coolent bottle, washer bottle, brake booster, a/c lines, abs ect ect) is far better off. after all arent our cars BMW's not base model stereotypical "euro trash"
as much as I love clean engine bays, I don't love shaved bays. I like my cars to be a little practical... if I have a bug on the windshield i want to get it off, if i have a problem with my wiring harness I don't want to take the fender off to get to a wire. M42 radiator, M3 firewall cover, and a little rearranging of certain things and I'm done.
And FWIW I think that S52 M3 would look a lot cleaner with the stock airbox, be it E34 or M30.
This thread is the very definition of "rice." What happened to the theory and practice of mechanical function taking precedence over form or aesthetics. And we're talking about shit under the hood! There's fewer than a handful of cars on this entire board that even have the potential to be a show car that would necessitate the modifications being proposed.
Her: "It's freezing in here. Can you turn the heat on?"
You: "Sorry, heater-core delete mod... the engine bay looks better without those two ugly hoses."
A clean engine bay doesnt necessarily mean shaving and deleting everything. Most of the bays pictured are simply shaven and cleaned up retaining practical all the function minus maybe the wiper tank? Function may take precedent over form, but its no excuse for a ratty looking engine bay.
