$1500 for the car, $50 for an ignition switch and $75 or so for stereo stuff. I have a feeling the starter is going and it needs a blower motor. Now the jeep........i would cry if I tried to total that up.

Nothing good can come of this..

I have had multiple E30's, 2x with S50/M50 swaps, one turbo, and now a pristine 88.. I have put way more money into them then I have ever gotten out, but part of the fun is trying to make a car as perfect as you can and enjoying it.

I sleep well knowing that I still have not lost as much money on my cars compared to if I would of purchased new ones and tried to sell them after driving them for a few years etc..

I will estimate it to be in the tens of thousands of dollars. Just had 3000 dollars worth of work and parts put into my E30.

Hurts my head to look at my stockpiled receipts.

    M30 swapped e30...

    Purchase: $3500 (mint car)
Full poly Bushing Kit / Adjustable Strut Tops / Bilsteins / Eibachs: $1200
    M30 swap: $1400
    HD Clutch Kit: $600
    Custom Sport Exhaust: $850
    --------------------------------
    TOTAL: $7550
    --------------------------------

    Crashed the car...
    Panels / Paint: $1600

    TOTAL: $9150
    --------------------------------

The car is mint, and goes like a cut cat, so with current e30 prices down here I should get darned close to $10k for the car if I sold it, so I am currently ahead by approx. $850.

Who said e30s are expensive :)

When owning e30s, I put over $20k into them. I've been balls deep into 2002s for a little over a year now and I have $30k in those.

I just can't drive a car. I have to do it up all perfect, which costs way too much time and money.

Some of these make me feel not so bad.

I paid a high price for my '91 4-door a few years back because it was mint and PO was meticulous. Over $4k.

    Major purchases include
    S50/ZF swap parts
    rebuilt ZF
full rebuild on the S50 (all told has been a metric shit ton)
    exhaust fabrication & parts
complete black vinyl sport interior, armrest/headrest, mint condition incl. carpet
complete stereo (PO had solid head unit, went through Luke while in OR, actually one of my more reasonable "investments")
    wheels & tires
cluster refurbishment, ashtray gauge package w/senders
complete ground control / koni setup with modified strut housings

I keep a spreadsheet for everything. Rather than to say that with wheels & tires (which I might consider wear items that go on any car) I'm pushing $19k, I'd phrase it as being kept under $20k. Yikes.

5 of them (4 still running, the other still has lots of parts)... about $27K total, but even I know I can't trust my memory on this.

Across all the e30's I've owned in the past 10 years, well over $15,000. Figure in my e36 and my e28 then I'll round it up to $20,000.

I don't have receipts for everything but after this swap I'll probably be around the $7-8K area.
