Pure-gas.org is the definitive web site listing stations that sell pure gasoline in the U.S. and Canada.
Also. my bone stock e30 will ping on all 87 octane and some 89 octane. I run 89.

87 octane has a 10% ethanol blend whereas 89 and 91 are still at 5% here in Germany. for those that care.
I run BMW orig. 10W 40 oil and the cheapest gas I can find.
alot of times I will run a 1/2 tank of gas-diesel mix we pump out of diesel cars that fill up the wrong stuff, with another half of 87 octane. I usually can't give over half throttle without the M20 pinging like crazy- but it's free!

I normally do 89 octane just because Gods chariot doesn't deserve to be treated in such a manner as putting the lowest in. Sometimes I'll throw V-Power in there just for shits and giggles. I am pretty picky when it comes to gas, I'll drive past other gas stations in hopes of a Shell.

If you're really interested in the oil's specs, find their datasheets.
1] resellers often get the numbers wrong online
2] they can't hide certain specifications in the datasheet that aren't on the bottle
Ie. mandatory viscosity ratings are set at 100°C, which is a DD engine temp. Only reliable oils also list vicosities much higher than 100°C. A higher viscosity index means that the viscosity changes less with temperature than a lower viscosity index.
I drink VR1 for breakfast.

Nope. The higher octane resists the actual flashpoint or ignition longer. Burns the same. Thats why you will hear pinging or knocking with low fuel qaulities because the explosion in the combustion chamber was just a touch to early. It can't resist the ignition long enough ,forcing the piston to compress a already expanded burning mix of the fuel and airsigpic
