SA Racer compares 1M to e30

    1:22

Two cars I'd love to have. If they'd ever bring em to the states!

Say what you want about its looks, sounds like the 1M is the closes thing to a drivers car from BMW in a while.

Well, the lap times tell all. The window line on both (all new cars for that matter) is still WAY too high reducing rear visibility. A station wagon just makes it worse since the back window is so far away from the driver. The test driver does make a good point, awd is easy to drive and for lack of a better way to state it, boring.

If I had to take one or the other, the BMW would be my choice.

reviews like these have been making me strangely want a new bmw the same way I wanted a e46 gtr in the beginning of high school.

The 1M is available in the US and has been here for a little while.
It is so much of a drivers car that several local e30 M3 owners & racers have given up their E30 M3's in favor of owning and driving the 1M.

Here's a clip of the same two cars running head tp head in the 1/4mi.

I have a better idea, don't roll the car. I'm just shy of 6'2 and I can't see out the back of most cars, it drives me crazy. It takes a stupidly large amount of work to put a car on its top. I'd rather know what is behind me at all times (so I don't back over the little kid on a bike who isn't tall enough to be seen through the overly high rear window. There is a reason you loose points taking a DMV driving test by not turning and looking where you are backing up, and no the mirror doesn't count.) I'll take my chances with a roll over if I can see out the back.

Doesnt matter how big the flares or how raked it is, the 1M, like all other 1s look like a chick car. Cute booty, droopy side sills, and shaped like a bar of Dove soap.

well of course, but for days like today, snowing in Portland, I'd love to have an RS3. Would be nice to have a german subaru killer for the mountains as well.

Hardly Available ;) Guess BMW doesn't want them to eat into m3 sales.
