    Looking for my first

Hey guys, I'm new to the forum. I am looking to buy my first e30!! I found a few locally. Wanted to see what you think.

I really like everything done to this car. Is this something worth considering? I tried to buy an e30 earlier this year but it had too many problems and the dealer was trying to deceive me. This would be a half daily driver, but if it did break I would have access to another vehicle. I would like to learn how to fix some stuff ( I hear these are good cars to learn on) , but I would like to avoid catastrophic issues. Let me know what you think.

    Thanks

This is the other one I found, not quite in the same class. It would need a little more work.

I would take the second one just because its so much cheaper, my offer would be 2250 to start off depending on how well the motor runs. Otherwise, it's not bad.

Unless you know that person that built that turbo motor, I would avoid it if thats what you're after.

Turbo E30 = issues. I suggest the latter. Oem is always better for reliability.

I agree with everyone else, the latter is the better choice.

yea, me too. Stockish= reliability (by e30 standards)

Would you recommend buying local ? Or would buying something on the forums be worth it ? I really like that second one, I might go see it this weekend. Any suggestions on stuff to ask and or look at ?

                        Commom problems:

                        Torn drivers seat
                        Odometer stopped working
On Board Computer doesn't light up or doesn't work

Also the timing belt should be done every 60,000 miles or else catastrophic failure may occur. Ask when it was done, if he doesn't know play it safe and do it

But all in all is this a good first e30? I will have some money left to fix up some stuff and maybe do some suspension work.

Should I move on and try to find one on the forum? I am worried about buying one that I can't look at, but I feel like I could trust a forum memeber.
