    Falling In Love.

When did you guys fall in love with Bmw's or E30's?

It all started for me when my dad bought his E39 528i m package and took me for a ride in it. It was completely new type of car for the family considering the only cars the family had previously were civics :(.

Then the love grew even deeper when I seen M3's whoop up on cars know for performance. It was cool to see a simple looking sedan keep up with 911's which looked made for the track.

The moment that sealed the deal on my love was when I got my license and the E39 was given to me. I maybe had three days worth of driving experience and was exiting the highway. The off ramp was under construction and one of the big orange cones had fallen over so i thought the gap was where the exit was. I was wrong I ended up in the construction zone, which was littered with tools jack hammers you name it. Some how I made it through with out hitting anything. At speeds of 70+ and three days driving experience I knew the only thing that saved me was the superior engineering and handling produced by Bmw. Nothing else compares in my book.

sorry for crappy pic only one I have of my original love

Good story. Would read it again.

I fell in love with BMW when I was 15 and saw my e36 sitting for sale kitty-corner to my house. Ever since the first time i heard it run, i've been obsessed with them.

When I was young, we lived in a neighborhood with a few wealthier families. Two of them had e30s, a Bronzit coupe and a Schwarz sedan. I swore that one day I would own one.

Two years ago. When I spotted an e30 in a lot. Fortunately, the owner is one of the drivers for our company. He drove the car all the way from California to Chicago. Thats when I fell in love with e30's. I ended up buying his because he didn't need a car anymore, now that he had a truck.

Well I am still fairly young and when I was looking for a car I wanted that summer I got pretty into the mazda mx-5. After watching many videos and reading up on them I kept seeing e36's everywhere. I had always thought BMW's were cool cars and this thing seemed awesome. I figured my dream car was a e36 M3 vert. Lol I know. This time, after lots of reading up on them I found e36's older brother, e30! It had me at first sight. I dig old cars and the boxy design was ftw for me. Not to mention everyone had an awesome opinion on the car and it was relatively easy to work on and to buy. So last summer I drove 3 hours and picked up my first car. The rest is history... :)

when i was a freshman in college, my roommate in the dorms was a spanish guy. (his dad had a 320i in the canary islands) sometimes as poor college students for entertainment, we would go hang out at the dealership and drive the 91 models for kicks. that dealer had cabrio's, i's, ix's, and an m3 in the showroom. i said to myself that one day i was going to take a cabrio, an ix, and an m3 and combine all the best parts to make one car. this is what i am doing today.

fast forward to 2007. my neighbor's wife had a alpinweis 91 318i cabrio that she drove as a daily. i told her that when she was ready to sell it to give me the first right of refusal. about a year later, i stopped by and there was a new 540i in the driveway. so i knocked on the door and asked what happened to the cabrio? she told me that she was in a minor fender bender with it and that the insurance was willing to just total it out and give her a payout. there was only minor damage to the hood, passenger side fender, headlight, and grill. so, i asked if they had settled yet and they told me they had not. they called the insurance company and asked them how much to buy the car outright. the number offered was 1000.00 so that was my entry into the e30 world. i joined this forum within a month.

no, actually, it doesn't. the insurance company never got their hands on the tittle. i don't own that car anymore. i decided that i wanted a prefacelift vert so it would be easier to do an m3 swap.

i sold it to a good friend of mine and he has done an s50 swap into it. i think if i remember correctly, he calls it "sofie" there is a project thread on it on the other forum.

It was about 7 years ago. My friend had bought an E30 and had been driving it around for a few months. I hadn't seen him for quite a while, and had yet to see the car. We met up for coffee and that's when I first saw it. I had been a Honda guy for a very long time at that point. When I saw the E30 I thought it looked pretty good, but I was still "meh" about it.

One night, that friend called me, drunk. He wanted a ride home from a party. I had my roommate give me a ride to his location, and follow me to my drink friend's house to drop him and his E30 off.

That was my first behind the wheel experience with an E30. I was never the same. I ended up buying that very car from him about a year later. I drove it for a pretty long time. I have not been without an E30 since, well, until now. But I miss having an E30 every day. In fact, I'm already gathering parts for my next one.

my father bought my mother a 1983 BMW 320i coupe as a bday gift when I was a child.
it was used nonetheless, however that car had some awesome memories.
remembering how the hood opened up all funny, GOLD wheels (i'm guessing they where BBS/Mahle 13/14 inchers) and it looked alot different than the other in the neighborhood.

that adopted my love for gold wheels and oldschool E21/E28/E30s

                          that...and quad round headlights.

All great stories. I feel in love with e30s probably 5 years ago when I was 13. This movie Paid In Full was about coke dealers in the 80s full of e30s. I seen them and was like wtf is that car! Looked them and looked at them for sale on craiglist religiously for years I finally got mine October 16, 2011 and I ain't ever going back.
