    It would easily cost you 50k+ if you can even find some of the nos & nla parts.

    I always had the fantasy if i was a millionaire to buy all the 2002 tooling from bmw and start my own factory....one day.

      If money was no problem I am sure BMW would be happy to build you a new one from factory.

      I wonder if BMW, have sold the E30 tooling and if not how much they would sell that for. Would be nice having a brand new shell strait from the shop.

        BMW already does this, I believe they've done a well documented 2002 and others. I forget what the program is called but they basically make a brand new car from an old design.

                  My bad, they have gone up a LOT since I first saw them. And I meant to say £3000, not $3000. They are ~£8000 now, but that seems to include the entire shell, doors and everything.

                    At the annual E-30 picnic last summer there were three low mileage examples for sale for what I thought was a reasonable price. Under 70,000 miles for under $7000 with no obvious problems.

                      I recall a parts manager got bored and did the math. It turned out to be $50+ over 10 years ago. Probably over $60k now that they keep increasing e30 parts. I remember when nissan was factory refurbishing original Z cars a few years ago and selling them for a little over $30k. If only BMW would do that for the m3. I'd buy a NOS m3 for $30k.

                        OP, you should look at the thread 'E30 M3 minor rust repair' and do EVERYTHING he does. Everything. THEN you will have a 'new' E30.

                        Great examples of used E30 M3s will fetch close to $30k. Do you really think a NOS E30 M3 would sell for $30k?

                          Could BMW make a brand new e30 M3 for $30k? You better believe it. By todays standards there is nothing special about how its made. There is no new tooling or engineering cost so there is no up front cost other then materials.

                            True. But you are not factoring in the novelty of have a brand new E30 M3. And you are forgetting about inflation. 30k in 88 is roughly 50k in 2010.

                              They wouldn't do this. Not only would it flood the market and bring down the value of original e30 m3's but German Engineering seems to be all about innovation. It would have to be done by some 3rd party company. But I doubt BMW would give someone else the rights to recreate the winningest car they have ever made.
