    What does everyone think of e32 750iL's?

    I have looked a little bit, and I am seriously thinking about picking up an early 90s 750iL. To me, the thought of a BMW v12 is pure excitement, plus from what I understand, it is really two m20's put together. What does everyone think? I know they are complicated, and parts are rather pricey, but otherwise what does everyone think. I am also looking at maybe getting an old s500 Benz, but I think I would like another BMW in the driveway more.

    Dont get a Benz, i cant tell you any reason other than i dont like them. I say get the 7 and just keep a few gallons of oil in your trunk and throw on some m parellels.

      mm my old man has an 88 benz 560sl. Nice car to some, just not to me. I like the look of early 90's 750il, pretty gansta. Anywyas thats my $0.02

        Have you considered an e32 735i or 735iL? Might not have the same amount of power but it will be alot cheaper to maintain and better on the pocket book in terms of gas.

          I don't know about a 735iL....

          I usually try to go for the biggest engine..... What I would love to get is a nice 750i...not the iL, but I know they are very difficult to find. I might just save up a get a nice black 740i like in the transporter... Just got a new job as mortgage broker, about $120k/year, and normal hours

            Not that I didn't hate that movie very much, but he had a 735i. 740i is my third favorite non-M, E39 540i would be my first choice, 850CSi would be second.

              get a 7, they are nice. and yes the one from the transporter was a 735

                I love the e32. Reminds me of the gangster car in the Flintstones. I would love to have one. One word of caution, they had severe issues with the early V12, I think having to do with the timing gear.

                    850's hella expensive to maintain, not that 750 is any better but I don't think it has all the technie-crap with the windows, seats, etc.

                    I'd go 740 (watch for nicasil?) and be pimp

                      120k/yr must be nice, but be a real man and go grab your self a nice e60, e63, or better yet, an e39 m5.

                        Get a buyer's check on any 7 Series before you buy. They are pretty cheap to buy used because they are so damned expensive to maintain. If you put any daily driver type miles on it, plan to put aside a couple grand a year for maintenance.

                        I love the 7 Series of that era, but there's a reason they have depreciated from 80 grand new to the low teens today.

                          They are quite large, as others are saying V12 would be expensive to maintain compared to others.

                            Your pockets will be empty trying to keep it on the road. Not only are parts expensive, but they are just physically difficult to work on due to space constraints.

                              2005 (E65) 760i was the first short wheelbase, V12 BMW ever available in the US.
                              You will not find an E32 750i, only 750iL.

                              Early BMW V12s are a nightmare.
                              1.0L smaller M60/M62 powered cars make nearly as much power.
                              Go for either an E32 740i or that Benz, or step up to an E38 if you can afford it.

                              PS: the car in the Transporter was an E38, not an E32.
