    Scratches on our 135 after dealer service

    We brought our 135i in for servicing at the BMW stealership this Thursday. Picked it up Friday, and after leaving work today (Saturday) I noticed some really nice big scratches right behind the drivers side quarter window that are very very new to me. They were not there before we took the car in. :(
    I called our service adviser and left a message along with an email with a picture of the damage.
    Has anything like this happened to anyone ells here? Final out come, did they fix it? Anything ells I should be doing to take care of this?

      That effing blows. And since you didn't bring it up before leaving their lot, I highly doubt you'll get anything but a "sincere" apology. Like lambo said, I'd be looking for blood. You could possibly threaten to tarnish their reputation by going to every BMW forum you can find and posting the pics to try and get them to play ball with you :shrug:

        I'd say thats actually a pretty good picture, especially for a phone. Show's the damage pretty good. But more on point, yeah I'd be pissed.

        Hope they aren't dicks and solve the issue as they should. Good luck.

            The fuck? Did they wash it after the service? Maybe sand in the wash mitt? I have no idea how else that would have happened.

            I guess the burden of proof is on you, but if they value you as a customer I would think they'd offer to try buffing it out at least.

                I'm just going to wait on a reply and see where this goes. I know it is going to be hard to prove. I should get in the habit of always checking my car inside and out after service. This fucking sucks! I'll update later. I love this car so much and having shit like this on it is aggravating.

                      I just left this on their facebook wall. Maybe it will help.
                      We just brought our 2010 135i in for service this Thursday (2/9/12) picked her up the day after (2/10/12). Our service advisory was Tom Smith. He was very helpful and friendly and got us in and out quickly. All in all it was a great experience, and exactly what I expect from BMW. How ever there is a bad part to this story as well. On Saturday (2/11/12) I noticed that there were some new and ugly scratches right behind the drivers side quarter window that were not there before the car went in for service. It looks like the person who gave our car a wipe down had some small pebbles or sand in there cleaning cloth. I contacted Tom by phone and sent him an email with a picture of the damage. I hope we can work this out together. I know the burden of proof is on me as I did not point it out before I left and it technically could have happened after I left, but I know it did not. I have been driving only BMW's (1976 BMW 2002, 1991 BMW 318i, 1974 BMW 2002, 2010 BMW 135i) my whole life, I take great pride in my cars, and this is our first experience buying a car from a dealership. I hope this story ends well.
                      I might put the same thing on their Yelp review...

                        You haven't received a return call and you're posting on their FB and want to leave a Yelp review? Dude, come on. He's probably not even in the office until Monday. If you're so concerned, just go down there. You're already putting yourself at a disadvantage by admitting that it was your fault you didn't look at the car.

                          There is a resin why I tried to put the whole thing in a positive light by starting the whole thing off with how much I liked their service. I was not trying to point fingers to much or be to aggressive. I have read a lot of horror stories about dealerships and the fact that they never really want to take care of problems they create. I am hoping that by putting the eye of the public on them that they will be motivated to act in a way that will put them in a positive light. Dealing with my scratches in a positive way will make them look great in the end. And they need it. Their Yelp review is not great at all.

                              Good luck, I guess it really depends on who you deal with at the dealership to resolve the problem and what mood they are in.

                              I would say don't lose your head if someone denies it but try to speak with someone higher in the command chain.
