97 M3/4/5...drove it for 200K with no major problems. Never a rattle, interior had no issues. My father is still driving this car with over 300K on it now with no problems whatsoever.
I have the exact same car. The interior rattles like crazy. Was the M ever lowered? I had mine pretty low on really stiff suspension and I feel like that is what started all the rattles. I don't recall very many rattles before it was lowered

I was once given an e36 for free-- it was a piece of crap that also had the interior falling apart syndrome- as well as rust all over the rear of it. It was a 1 owner car with less than 100,000 on it, 1992 320i. I will never ever own another e36 again.

          lol,

its free, what do you expect.

on a serious note, it depends on how good the PO take care of the car. shitty owner=shitty car.

yeah, tan dash- brilliant. Reflects off the windshield, you can't see anything....

I love the E36 handling and engine. The construction of the interior blows.

                          'nuff sed.

GC and Koni...driven relatively low...road conditions weren't the worst.

Yea mine is lowered and I think the hard ride for the past 30k miles on a car with already 216k miles has rattled everything loose. Like every standoff on every panel came off the glue. Latch trim doesn't stay on anymore. The headliner went aeons ago. The sunroof seal leaks and ask blunttech, is NLA. The california sunroof sags. The speakers have rattled loose in the back. The hvac knobs can fall off easy.
At least my dash isn't cracked lol.

Without preference in my statement, it is well noted by the automotive press of the world today and facts that once the E36 came around, globalization made it so that the interior-material quality and adhesive were of inferior quality. All forms of automotive knowledge agree that the interior of the E36 was garbage, it wasnt opinion. It was fact. Even our small BMW circle knows that. This is not an E30 vs. E36 issue. Its a fact of what BMW had to work with at the time to still adhere to environmental, adhesive, and volume issues in a time of the mid-90's. All cars have faults, which have been clearly pointed out here. E36's interiors fall apart in much shorter of a time than E30's, and in BMW's in general. We have semi-trailing arm suspension.... so the fuck what?? Lets not get into a pissing contest about E30-E36. E36 interiors are sub-par, and we have a timing belt.... move on......
