So a little up date. The screen is hard to see with alot of light. Yesterday I drove around at about 2pm with over cast clouds and I could barly make out the readings. But this mourning at 8am no problems. Seems that it is hard to read the display with alot of ambient light. Ill see if there is some other alternative to this display that will be easier to read.

On another note my car can pull 1g fuck yes :p

Are they fussy to mount? I suppose they'd need to be totally square in order to read accurately.
No they are not as I mention it has a reset button so any funny readings can just be reset. Once I have mine mounted ill cost it up and put up a group buy.

So drove around with it last night to see how it works.

It will read the highest g's for 5 seconds then reset, unless a high g force is read then it will display that.

The first digit shows direction with
    F - Forward
    b - Back
    r - Right
    L - Left

Then the other 3 digits display the g force in X.XX form. It dose not have data logging but the idea is that you can hit a corner then once you come out of it you can look down and see what g's you pulled before it resets in 5 seconds.

Not bad for what it is. It will not fit in a air vent so it will have to be mounted in the ash tray or the area above it.

Just to confirm there is also a reset button on it. So if it is giving you a reading while stationary you can just reset it.

    OH HOLY LOLY

I had an accelerometer in my car once because I was pretty sure I was approaching 0.75-0.80 G on a sharp corner at 55mph and wanted to verify it. Not even close.. 0.45 G :P

I have a 2-axis accelerometer installed in my ECU. Only got to use it for a couple Autox's. The Y-axis burned out though, bought a new one to replace it but haven't put it in yet.

Nonsense - 1+ G is pretty easy with stiff suspension and sticky rubber. Well, I guess you could be right, since everyone seems to want 195s on a 10" wide rim and suspension so low the camber curve is inverted and the roll center is in china. :p

ignore the X-axis, I didn't have a VSS input yet unfortunately.

    Y is acceleration/deceleration and X is cornering.

    Cheers Bro

It would of course be hooked up to the car power with out the switch. As soon as I have mine mounted ill get a cost together and put up a group buy.

    Some pictures

So it will read forward backward left and right with a maximum of 2.00g's. For those who are interested it is built around the 3 axis MEMS accelerometer and PIC18LF14K22 Micro Controller.

If you mod you car you will be able to see what affect it has on performance. It is a bit gimiky but some people will like it or use it.
