It's clear from the whole video that the driver can't take a proper line, he takes an early apex on just about every corner. Schmuck got what he deserved.

I feel sorry for the front tire's shoulders, with the lines he was taking they were getting slaughtered.

Also, for anyone reading this, when you're on a public road ALWAYS late-apex. It allows you to correct in case of the turn tightening more than you assumed and/or an obstacle appearing on the outside of the corner.

From what I understand, and I'm probably not 100% understanding this, but according to Skip Barber's go faster aren't you only suppose to early-apex if you have lost your brakes and you need to scrub off as much speed as possible with your tires. Otherwise you want to do as little turning of the wheel as possible to keep up your speed, hence the late-apex being the preferred one.

Let me know if I am full of shit on this particular subject... I'm still just a C class DE participant.

              You talking to me BMXER?

Edit: Hmmm... that wasn't in Go Faster... where the hell did I hear that then? I know you don't want to spin hitting an early apex, so you should go over your limit there, but taking a turn where you need to turn more should in theory scrub off more speed than hitting a perfect late apex.

I think I'm totally off kilter on this one.

welll... since he was staying in his own lane so he wasnt really setting up any lines.. and the difference between apex points in such a narrow lane is negligible... he just carried too much into the turn and mis judged it... it tightened up without him expecting it and he overloaded his front tires and exceeded their limits of adhesion... causing him to lose any sort of braking/turning response, wich is the reason he slid into the wall... i have seen so much misunderstanding in this thread its funny... and uflnuceng... driving skill isnt something you're taught... you either have it or you dont.

"Having won more road races than any other model in history, the E30 M3 is considered by many to be the world's most successful road race car." - Simply put, E30s kick ass.

Thank you for adding to the misinformation in this thread.

oh please don't make me get on a plane to cali... yes it is something you are taught you dolt. A baby doesn't come out being able to drive a F1 car. Skip Barber wouldn't have his current career as an instructor if that were the case. The only reason why I made that comment was because it was something that an instructor at the NORPCA HPDE school said at mid-ohio a couple years back. I do my best not to early apex myself because I know it is unstable, it scrubs speed, and puts you in a place where you will either understeer or oversteer to try and stay on the track. Its just that when this guy said that it perked my ears cos it sounded weird. The fact that I have improved from one driving class to a higher driver class (albeit still low because I can't make it to as many track events as I would like in a year) proves that you can learn driving skills. Its all about experience son... some have more of it than others.

Please step down from your altar... you can't be that good of a driver either otherwise we would be seeing you on Speed TV with your name up in lights.

Edit: I am also not deleting or editing my previous threads because I am not going to back peddle and try and take back a stupid comment without giving it more thought. I did make a stupid statement, never ever ever go for an early apex. Apex is ok... late apex is better... go to a good driving school, pick up Go Faster and read it all the way through (I'm guilty of not doing that yet). Don't r3v your miata and think you are only going to be out $400.

I must argue you with because I think you are one of the biggest dumbasses on this forum.

Nobody is born with the natural ability of being a good driver... not anybody on this forum at least (Maybe Juan Pablo Montoya or someone like that). EVERYBODY can benefit from HPDE's and real world driving (track) experience, and if you say that you can't, it's because you have never tried it before.

And what the hell does you mean that my right foot can't match your left foot? Do you only have one leg?

I don't know why I waste my time arguing with you, you know it all and I should be studying for my mid terms. Let me guys, you never have to study either because you were born a genius? Either that or you didn't go to college judging by the way you write and spell.
