So my cars been keyed....again...

Since I've been at home all day, I figured I might as well be productive and clean the car up. So I'm in the garage waxing when I notice a light scratch. 'Damnit' I think, and keep on buffing.....but when I bend down to see if I missed a spot, I see that it goes down the entire rear quarterpanel on the drivers side. Ugh.

This is probably the....third time my car has been keyed in the year and two months ive had it, and I dont understand why! Even my old P.O.S. Mercedes 240D got the hell keyed outta it too! WTF!!?!? Any idea on what I'm doing wrong, becides driving an old, slow BMW in a small town dominated by mustangs and other groder type domestics?

if you drive carelessly, even in the minds of the mustang owners, near public hangouts. If you park using any possition other than the missionary position, then you may be keyed. if you have enemies, even imaginary, you may be keyed.
But seriously i thought all this stopped in the 70's

Seriously, that sucks though. I did a writeup explaining how to remove paint scratched. TJ (Digitalwave) should have a copy. I can't find it since I swapped over computers. I'd talk to him.

The only place that I routinely park everyday is school. I dont drive crazily (around public hangouts, I DO on backroads at times). I suppose theres one or two people I could see doing it.....actually.....damnit.

Why do you think it's someone keying you?

Usually people key the hood or the door, do it multiple times, and make it deep. It sounds to me like you probably backed into something.

-I recently broke up with a girl who knew exactly how much I was obsessed with my car...she was/is very obsessive/posessive

-I started seeing another girl whos ex is a 'friend' of mine (hes a friend, but one of those kinda iffy ones....i cant explain) and hes still pretty....obsessed.

-Theres a whole group of honda-type tuner guys (i refrain from using the term 'ricer') that quite of a few of my friends make fun of....I try not to. And I certainly dont yell things at them like some of them do. But I guess we're all togeather, and they coulda just seen me with them and made the connection.

I'm guessing either 1-youre right Charlie, I just backed by a branch or something, or 2- The guys my friends make fun of just got pissed.
But I still have no idea who woulda done it to my old car! That was when I was in the 9th grade, still a nice, haircombing little boy.

honestly, all people see when they see one of our cars is that roundel on the hood. It doesn't matter how old your car is or if it doesn't look new. I live in a town with approximately 0 bmws (at least I've never seen any, and it's not a big town). I get dirty looks from older people all the time. :(

i would have to say, that if i caught someone keying my car... i would probly end up stabbing the key into there eyes.
