I'm not sure if you're asking about the car I posted or the E36 I'd like to build but, the E36 I want would be tracked to hell and back.

question: is the e36 worse in the snow than the e30? i always thought my e30 (325i) was competent in the snow, but the same can't be said for my e36 (m3). is it the interference of the ASC? traction does seem marginally improved with ASC off, then again it's hard to tell. plus i don't want to pretend i'm a hero and turn off ASC only to potentially have it bite me in the ass. after all, these things exist for a reason... right?

both cars have (had) good snow tires on them, so that factor can be ruled out.

(i know this is the eyecandy thread, but figure if e36 owners are hanging out anywhere on r3v, it's here.)

you're right, the asc is the issue. early models don't have it, so as long as you drive like you do in your e30, there shouldn't be any issues. my 95 was never equipped with it and i have learned how to control it by the throttle.

This fad is getting annoying, Big wheels, Low car, Rubber bands... A formula that needs to die. IMO Its dangerous and retarded, and is similar in looks to baggy pants hoodlums.

My E36 M3 is a beast in snow despite stiff coilovers, track pads, and low clearance. Not as good as my subaru, but when both have snow tires the M is quite usable. In your case, ASC is not helping, but go get 2-4 75lb sandbags and put them right over the rear axle. Helps immensely (worked on the E30 too). You have the tires, just need a little more rear weight. If your tires are more than a couple seasons old though, it's time for new ones. They age out well before they wear out.
