    I'm pretty sure US clusters aren't km/h...
The first car I ever rode in was an e30

I've had a couple of Series 2 320i's and they both had a 7k tach. All my 323i's have a 7k tach and I believe everything on a series 1 320i and a 323i are the same bar the crank and pistons.

I've never had a Series 1 320i though so maybe there were a few more differences between them and 323i.

The series 2 320i have a 4.10 and don't feel too sluggish but when I blew up a diff and put in a spare 3.46(which is what the series 1 320i used) it turned the car into a snail. Slower than my old 4AGE AE93 Corolla, slower than my BA4 Prelude.

if the bumpers can be fixed with new trim on the sides, maybe $500 and part it.

and that is the GT sport wheel. uncommon, undesirable, and ugly.
