puting your e30 on jack stands

No, in fact, it's the best spot. Think about it, it's a 90lb piece of steel that's bolted to the subframe (using super heavy duty hardware) which in turn is bolted into the chassis.
Also, when doing any work related to the differential, keep the jack stands on the body and not the subframe as the geometry goes out when you jack up the rear subframe.

If you wanted to be stupid, go out to Sears Point and pick up a set of 13" goodyear slicks out of the used tire pile. You want grip for free? Heck, I bet you could find either cantilever slicks or radial slicks all day long out there. They won't last that long on the street, but holy crap they would be fun as long as its dry, if its wet, you might be able to find a set of 13" rains out there as well.
Disclaimer, Im not recomending this as slicks are not DOT approved, and will get you in all kinds of trouble if you go play in the rain with them. In the dry, you will never experience that much grip on the street however.

As a general rule of safety you should never get under any portion of the car for any reason while it's supported only by a jack. I say this because in your pics I dont see any stands, just the jack, and you appear to have been under the car in some way to take the pics. Sorry to be all buzz-killington here but, I have seen a jack fail while supporting a car and I was very happy I wasn't under there, the brake rotor cut clean through a wooden hammer handle. Scary

i just sorta bent over and stuck my arm under the car for those photos, if it failed the door panel would have probably hit me in the head but thats all really haha.
