The ix is dead, may she rest in peace

So over the course of the last week Ive gotten some bad news.

It started last Monday when I brought my car into a local Monro quci service place to get my wheels balanced so I could drive home for mid-semester break. Well the get the job done and I drive away. Literally 50 feet from the place my left front wheel fell off. The mechanic neglected to tourque the lug nuts back on. He literally just hand screwed them in there. Needless to say the wheel mangled my left side. The fender and ix body trim were toast and I couldnt open my drivers side door. The rim itself also recieved some damage. Im assuming that the awd system was knocked slightly off because they decided to declare the car a total loss.

After much angry conversation between Monro's insurance and myself we settled for a total of 2500. I only paid 2000 for the car which was a steal as this car was in damn good condition for its age and milage. It really sucks to see how little damage it took to total the car. Im going to miss her but its time to move on.

That isnt to say Im extremely pissed about the whole situation. How people can operate a business and let something like this happen disgusts me. I in no way did anything to cause this to happen, yet I get screwed in the end and lose my car. Oh well....

Thus is the story of many many many tales. I managed a Jiffy Lube for a while and shit happens man. Its always to the people who love their cars the most too. Sorry to hear it happened to an e30.... why not buy it back from insurance and fix it up with the $$$?

Also if anyone wants I can buy the car back and sell it to them quite cheap if they want to come get it in Canton NY. Its pretty far but Id let it go for pretty much what it costs me to get the car back.

sorry to hear that, your car is killed by an halfass, you car was nice,

IMO; buy it back and find another 325iX with some bad parts and swap it from your car and sell other things

That sucks... sounds like a perfect part car. If no one else here bites I'd call The Euro Depot or BMW Wholesale as they would take it and part it in a second, and probably give you back whatever parts you wanted. If the body is still straight and it is just a screwed up fender and some other stuff they might even be able to put it back for you for less than the $2500 you get.

I'm usually exceptionally lenient when it comes to sueing.. don't like it... but that coulda killed you. I'm sure you had to sign something regarding you wouldn't bring up charges... sucks.

What exactly is the extent of the damage & how much are you looking for?

Yeah... the more I think about it the more I think this is a plan:

                            1. Arrange something with The Euro Depot or some other specialist BMW salvage yard. I don't know if you are in NH or NY at the moment
                            2. Arrange to buy your car back and have it shipped to said specialist
                            3. Have it evaluated by non-insurance people... either part it or fix it.

Either way you will make out on the deal.

                            my $0.02

Buy it back, if it's in as good of condition as you say, we don't want that car going to the crusher like that! :(
