I'm within a year of both my e30's. I like old cars and have no reason for a new one.
I'm considering a car that is nearly my age!

Keep looking, but DON'T SETTLE. Don't buy the first E30 that pops up, make sure it's the one you want, you don't want to be painting it a different color, replacing your interior, engine, bumpers.. etc. I mean, most of that stuff you can probably replace but instead of turning a Bronzit ETA with diving boards into a Schwarz iS with plastics, you could put that money into maintenance and mods.YOUTUBE: AR Perez

Yeah if you like cup-holders that'll be your first bolt-on mod ;)
My E30 was born a month after me, I like older cars but she has class, style and loves a good ride, what more do you want from a woman?
M42 power all the way.Different strokes for different folks.Comment

I would suggest holding out for a 325 no matter what you do. I had a 325is and jumped on a 318is this past summer, it was a great deal, but I just miss that straight six power. Plus the M20 is soooo reliable.sigpicComment

Just make a few searches on CL and an RSS feed for each, it'll email you new postings as they go up. Take a look at few cars but don't buy. Just to get a sense of what's a good car and what's not.
Also if you're mechanically inclined at all, put "clean body/good paint" at #1 on your priority list, because that will be the most expensive part of the car to fix.

Would you mind going into detail for me so I could possibly use your advice? I would love to have a more simple way of locating e30's on CL. It sucks that I need to search through every state, one city at a time. Again, I'm not sure what you mean by rss feed for each. I'd appreciate it!:DNick

All my cars have me beat in the age bracket. The nice thing about E30's is that no matter what you buy, its going to be a fun car. My daily is a 87 325 with a automatic, and I still enjoy the heck out of it. The automatic is (relatively) smooth. The motor has plenty of power for freeway on ramps, and the handling is sublime. Dont shy away from a car just because its a early model, although the later plastic bumper cars are even better.Keep looking, but DON'T SETTLE.
