The mystery E30 that no one knows about.

I dont think anyone can answer this but I signed up for this reason so here goes.
I bought a E30 cabriolet thats appears to be very rare. It looks like an M3 Cabrio. It was purchased in California from the famous Vasek Polak and his dealership. The car was purchased new and then parked in a garage with a cover for many many years while the owner was in jail.Turns out he was a drug dealer. He had ferrari's, mercedes etc. I found this car and bought it 2 years ago and still have not been able to get an answer about how it came to be. The M3 cabrio wasn't being sold in 87' and thats the year my car was made. Its the Hartge 6 cylinder engine and performance parts through out with the badge on the hood. Hartge doesn't have this car in there records. Vasek Polak is dead now and theres no record of many cars that came and went during the several garages he had for bmw etc and porsche which he's most famous for! "Google him." His racing teams ran BMW 3.0 CSL lightweights back in the day until they raced Porsche only. I don't find any examples of this car on the internet anywhere but the closest thing to it would be Vlads red cabrio m3 or an original E30 M3 cabrio. Your research and help would be greatly appreciated.

See the badge and colour? The 325ic is limiting. The colour might not be my taste but it was the most expensive package you could get at the time.

Need pictures dude. You say it has hartge stuff but was BMW dealer delivered? Sounds as though someone didn't tell you something. Sounds as though Vasek Polak did a custom job on the car to look like a M3 Cabrio with hartge bits proabably why you can not find info on it.

But we need pictures to confirm.

Not so fast. The owner told me he purchased it in 87 from the dealer with the body work and engine already like that. The only thing he did was add stereo and hideous wheels. If its just a cabrio with flares then how did he get those parts before the M3 was even sold to the public? The M3's based on my research were made in 87 and sold in 88. The M3 cabrio not until 89 or 90 or something like that.

Are the flares metal or fibre glass? I still think the PO was not telling you the hole story. That info suggests that is was just a run of the mill E30 cab. Some where along the line after it left the BMW factory it was modded. Don't forget dealers can mod cars as well if your pockets are deep enough.

Anyways as you said the car is 87 and the M3 is 88 so it is obvious that this was not factory delivered if it was it was a prototype and the M3 cab prototype was not around till after the M3 was built. Some where along after 1988 fender flares have been added. And probably some hartge visuals.

As much as I am sure you are hoping this is a rare car I can would say it is not. I am not trying to burst your bubble just trying to lay it out.

So would be a quality job then I would assume. What year did the PO go to jail? Could have been added after the original purchase but before jail time.

What do you think its worth? The engine is in perfect condition. Its the 2.8 kit with 50k on the clock. The BMW dealer sent me a list of parts to put it back on the road since it sat and the rubbers rotted.
