    e36 M3 for daily

looking for a new DD and see that prices on e36 M3 have plummeted to 5-9k... so question is what to look out for? I can see some have had wheels and interiors swapped with nonM3s so those are off my list .....but what else should i look out for? Common issues?

I DD a 1995 M3. Besides it being clapped out from the PO not taking care of it, it's pretty nice.

Basically, get the nicest one you can afford. 1995/96-99 debate will pop up. Who cares. If you drop a nice dime on one you'll get a good one. Service history, like any car, is a must.

Danny pretty much covered it. Also look for the vanos rumbling. Sounds like marbled being ground around in the top front of the engine.

RTABS too. They'll wear tires like a mother fucker.

Why get an e36 when you can have a 24v e30?

I love my E30, but I wouldn't want to daily it. My E36 was my daily for a couple years and was OK, but I really like my Audi A3 as a winter / hauler / it's really f-ing nice to have a modern luxurious car for times when you just want basic transport.

I'm looking at an E36/5 318ti to daily...with an S52, of course :) I've made my E30 a little to hard-core to DD. It's fine for me, but I have to drive suppliers around, and they are not amused

e36s make great dailys. a lot more refined than an e30.

To me and i'm sure a lot of other people, a daily driver doesn't have to be very refined. I would daily a lotus elise/exige.
The only real necessity for a car to be a daily driver for me is reliability. I think it's awesome daily driving a raw car.
