Doesn't a turbo effectively increase the engine discplacement?

If the amount of air moved changes your view of the displacement of an engine, then it would be equally valid to argue that cams change the displacement. It's best not to go down that route. It's not really descriptive or meaningful. FI is just a way of cramming more air in.

And for the record, I hate the way that BMW has decoupled the model numbers from displacement.

im not gonna lie, i love a good b*saint thread. and this one delivered.

the answer is really yes and no. no displacement stays the same, but yes you do suck in more air. more air means more fuel mans bigger bang. so you wont displace as much as a V8, but you probably suck just as hard ;)

    Yes

    No, you retard. No.

    How old are you anyway?

    WTF SRSLY!?

    COME ON?!

You know the old saying "There's no replacement for displacement."?

Well.... The replacement for displacement, is forced induction.

It doesn't increase displacement, but it might as well.

you are thinking superchargers because they are often expressed in terms of capacity in liters..... and the rest is too difficult to explain .. search!

Ok I found my answer on another forum because I was talking about EFFECTIVE displacement, not actual.

Thanks anyways for your input even though it wasn't helpful.
