    Search doesn't work so well.......

I know people always get on Noobs for asking about things already covered, but the search has never really worked well and I don't understand. Jordan, do you know why?

It only seems to turn up recent threads. For us more vintage R3Vers, we can remember threads and not find them again.

Like myself, I wanted to see the post introducing e9nine's new wheels, and I remember "sneakers" being in the title......but no results.

    but alas......http://www.r3vlimited.com/phpBB2/vie...831&highlight=
    "e9nine's e30 gets new sneakers"

and I couldn't find the thread for installign an euro plate filler, but alas: http://www.r3vlimited.com/phpBB2/vie...473&highlight=

    Vintage R3v? It's like 3 months old :)

The best thing to do is use very specific terms for the search. i.e., If you want to find info on a 173 Jim Conforti chip, search for "173 Jim Conforti" and not just "chip".

Alright, 3 months....but I remember like 80% of the posts then. And it is annoying when I can't find them again.

And that way still won't work very well, at least not for the e9nine BBS RZ wheels thread. I dunno. The only way I found it was going through 20 pages of e9nine's posts.

      :?

I think some stuff was lost when it switched servers a while back. Or whaterver happened when I lost all my PM and stuff.

Use the AND to get more specific searches.

It works fine for me. But what I said above seems to be the case with it sometimes.

I agree that it doesn't work all that great, not many board's searches do though.

You just need to know how to use it. You have to be specific and concise. Dont use words you dont want to show up etc.

It's not that bad. If you are looking for a recent thread and search intelligently, it will come up. It's just the threads way back in the annals of history (like 2 months ago) that are difficult to dig up. :?

Kids, if all else fails, just repost the question, be called a newbie, and get someone to post the link to the old thread. :P
