    E30 318is

I found a 318is Black/Tan that looks really clean and odo says 72xxx miles and the owner is asking 3000. I was wondering if that was a alright price to pay for the car. It has new paint and 3000 sounds like a fair price, but I'm not sure how much these cars usually go for. Any input would be great.

Sounds like a good deal to me. Friends dad just paid 3200 for one that had about 60k more miles on it. If its clean and runs strong pick it up.

if that mileage is accurate and it's never been in an accident and has been maintained correctly (had the timing profile gasket replaced) then it's a good price, maybe even a steal to an enthusiast.

I found a 318is around here that had 72,000 miles but wasn't maintained at all, never had the gasket replaced, looked like it had water in the oil, horrible master cylinder, etc. POS and the guy wanted $4000. uh, no thanks. If everyhing looks good to you go for it.

I paid more for mine. It had 59k on the clock. I changed the gasket a year later.

I paid 3,000 for mine in 2001, with 155k, some rear quarter damage and a trashed taillight/bumper, previous fairly shittily repaired front/rear/side damage. : )
I'd say give that one a good look because it sounds like the car to have.

Thanks for the input guys. Its not online, I came across this car on a drive to my house from school. It caught my eye and looked clean, so I looked it over a little. I may check it out more thouroughly this weekend.

i paid 1500 for one 2 years back. Interior was mint, paint was trash [dschwartz] and it needed a headgasket at 110k! After 1500 more in work i got run into and totaled. Insurance gave me 3900 for the car, and i boughts a 500 dolla chassis and made a new car

But yes, thats a great deal if its condition reflects the mileage

Awesome deal. But find out what made it need a repaint, there could be a shady past involved.

That's my main concern. I need this car to be reliable
