Funny stuff: Apparently a TSX pwnz the E30 for track

    Hey guys,

I'm about to hop in an E30 after coming from an AP1 S2000 and a 3G 6-speed TL. Really love the E30 and looking forward to driving BMW's 'modern' classic.

I'm an active member on S2KI and started up a thread discussing the E30 and why I was interested in buying one. Quite a few members there tried to talk trash about buying a swapped, old Bimmer, but one guy made some comments that were especially funny and are good for a cheap laugh.

Here's the thread in question: http://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/944708-e30-time/

Here are the AWESOME posts about what a monster the TSX is and what a massive failure of a performance car the E30 is

I'd buy a 1st gen tsx to replace the TL. I remember driving an old Warsteiner touring car about 6-7 years ago and thinking gah this this is horrible then setting a faster lap in my old eh sedan with a b swap and toyos.

Most people don't know what they're talking about when they try to say a TSX is a good car or even remotely comparable to a TL, especially a 6-spd TL. :thumbdn:
Thats funny because there have been dozens of successful tsx/jdm/euro accord based race cars and only a couple of tl's - and it's weird how real time has been winning with there tsx's since day 1 while abandoning the RSX as uncompetitive.

And that's because the TSX is not a 4 door RSX - the rsx and the TL and all other new Hondas have a strut front suspension. This was done supposedly to save space, but it's really a cost cutting move. Watch some slow mo of a stut front car straight line curbing on track and you will see the front wheel moving up and down in mid air. That excess wheel motion from the strut causes under steer and tremendous work has to be done to get a car to handle on par with a wishbone front and usually it means making the car much stiffer and using larger sway bars for rotation. Companies like Spoon and Mugen have gone on the record to discuss the problems with handling on the new generation of strut equipped Hondas.

By the way the production Brembos on the TL are lip service they are just another OEM and if you think you are getting there Ferrari quality work lol - Mugen sells the standard Nissin Calipers as racing parts re-branded as the active gate system so they are quite capable.

When you said people who don't know what there talking about - knowing what your talking about doesn't include a 30 second slalom test in a magazine to determine handling for track use. There are several other things here but if you think the TSX is a piece of shit compared to an e30 with a motor swap for track use...well, ok have fun.
...I'm used to bullshit and fanboyism in the Honda community, but this horse-shit had to be shared. I've never liked Duke Togo and his contradictory, self-serving crap that he spews as truth, but this right here is gold.

Apparently I've totally screwed up, and the right car for daily driving + occasional track usage is the next model down from the car I just sold.

Screw swapping, the M20 is plenty track capable and a lot more fun IMO.

Fwd is why most asian cars fail. Old datsuns and s2ks are the bomb however. Miatas are not that bad either, they are just gay.

haha.. and you guys thought r3v was bad with fanboyism...

We all know the e30 suspension design is outdated but even despite that e30s can be very capable track cars when setup properly. Our biggest advantages are weight, engine swapability, and big aftermarket. Check out the track times thread.. http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=216644

IIRC, theres an invite-only forum for the richest snobs in the country and they have a track time leaderboard. There whole thing is full of tuned Lambos, a Bugatti, Porsche 911s, Ferraris; the whole lot. They post their basic specs like engine and mods. My friend was derp-browsing one day and guess who he saw at ~#6 place in the 3/4 mile (0-130)?
"'89 BMW 325i 88mm Turbo s52b32 30lbs-b" and it put down a time of like around 8 seconds or so. GAWSH I wish I still had the link or remembered the site name...

Gotta say, my little e30 eyes filled with tears for the little scoots :3
I was so proud to be an e30 owner

A lot of things on our cars couldbe outdated, but one things for sure is that even our outdated crap is better than modern Front-Wheel-Fail suspensions and handling... Heck, even alot of our stock "outdated" crap is considered optional factory extras in todays "modern" cars

Damn. Those are some good Willow times.

Not as good as a TSX, though.

I honestly never noticed what a sack of useless shit he is on the boards until he popped into my thread. I love his fucking insanely illogical argument too:

"HAVE U EVER OWNED A SWAP CAR?
HAVE U EVER BEEN TO A JUNKYARD?
HAVE U EVER OWNED A BMW? IF NOT, THEN WHAT DO U KNOW!?!"

Because owning ANY swapped car, going to a junkyard, AND owning ANY BMW means you'd be an expert on E30 swaps.

This latest comment that some guy with 1 post count put in my thread is classic:
