While on the topic of jacks, has anyone tried out Harbor Freights newer steel floor jacks? I was looking at this one:
http://www.harborfreight.com/automot...ump-68049.html
It's $5 cheaper then their cheapest aluminum one, has a higher capacity and best yet, sits 5/8" lower when all the way down and raises up 5-1/4" higher. Granted it weighs 40lbs more, but I really don't find myself picking my jack up much, just rolling it around, so it's kind of a moot point.
Judging from the pictures as well, the lowered section seems to be longer then the aluminum one as well, which means you can reach farther under the car before hitting the frame/body.Comment

^FWIW I got my aluminum one on sale with a coupon for $60. But, like you said if your not actually picking your jack up often, I would imagine that steel one would work very well, espicially if you have a lowered car.

Got that one for 39 onsale! and wondering...what do you need a low profile jack on a 4x4 e30? Will that jack reach?
Wow, that is much lower than my current one. I can almost not get it under, and I am going lower yet again. I guess I need to buy this one! While on the topic of jacks, has anyone tried out Harbor Freights newer steel floor jacks? I was looking at this one:

That jack looks awesome, and looks lower than my aluminum jack I have now:While on the topic of jacks, has anyone tried out Harbor Freights newer steel floor jacks? I was looking at this one:

I've heard you can get great performance from combining the base of the "e" jack with the arm of the "i" jack. Does anyone have info on this?Comment

My brother has that one for the plow tracker because of that height. It works just fine. Just weighs a million lbs and sliding/rolling it across any kind of a crack in the floor makes you want to kill yourself. He likes it but sometimes it drives him nuts. The handle in monstrous, so you need a good amount of room around the car. And that pretty much covers it.While on the topic of jacks, has anyone tried out Harbor Freights newer steel floor jacks? He wishes he could have a larger aluminum jack. I wish he didn't put a plow on his tracker.Comment
