    Need advice on selling/repairing wheels...

Ok... so I'm thinking I'm going to sell my M3 10-spoke forged aluminum wheels with very slightly used BF Goodrich T/A KD tires. The deal is I would like to get uber bucks for them. THe problem is all four rims have a good amount of curb rash on them. I had the rough edges grinded down so they look ok and aren't going to slash the tires, but I would like to get them looking good. Polishing is out of the question, but what if I just got them painted for about $100 each? My wheel repair guy said that they he has just gotten a new paint that is suppose to look like bare alumium too, although I would still need to clear coat them. I would obviously disclose that they were painted to the buyers (most likely an eBay thing). What would you guys recommend? The BF Goodrich tires I have got a really good writeup in GR Motorsports so I'm hoping to get like $1k+ for the lot, but I gotta make them look nicer.

Opinions? Just sell them, make them look nice then sell them, hold on to them for my next E30 5-lug swap?

You usually don't come out ahead if you pay to repair something before you sell it. I'd clean them up real nice, take some good pictures of them and see what you can get for them as is. If your looking to put $400+time into them and sell for $1K you might be able to sell as is for $600. It is worth a shot to save time and effort.

Meh... I see where you are coming from. I'll just clean them up nice. Be honest about their condition, put them up on ebay with a minimum bid of $500, see where they go and ship them. That probably is the best/easiest way.

      Thanks.

I frequently see them go for 600-900 on eBay without tires, and these tires ain't cheap. kudos on the 300 bucks though.

You could have them repaired (and by that I mean trued, fixed rash, refinished) for about $400, but I really wouldn't bother because I agree with what Darkwing said. With those tires, you'd definately get $500-600 as they are.

Keep them for your next e30. Whats 500 bucks gonna do for you? Thats like a WHOLE paycheck. Plus, you might regret selling them cause they are a nice looking wheel for a 5 lug e30, not to mention fairly light.

Meh... maybe I'll hold onto them. I could get some hella big spacers and put them on my M6 too :D

Thanks for the help guys. Maybe sometimes things are just worth holding on to.
