When I was about 16 a Tornado (not a common occurrence in our region) came through our area and devastated a lot of homes. My friends and I went out the next morning to help in clean-up, get people out of their homes, etc.
Since then I have been involved with Habitat for Humanity. I have volunteered many places and helped out in many other ways, but HOH is by far the most rewarding. I highly suggest it.

Kidnap someone then torture them for a few days. Take them out back and start to strangle them, then just stop and say "go free and live your life"

But seriously, helping out kids or seniors tends to have the largest impact in the smallest period of time. They are both typically at the point where they can't work and they can't do much to change their own life and rely on others.
I've always wanted to help vets because I've had quite a few in my family and they did for this country what I couldn't and many are reduced to nothing at this point. It's hard to see.

I feel like I do enough for my neighbors like help with their cars, free home brew, lend lawn equipment/tools but the one thing I've always wanted to do is clean up the all the crap that the shit bags throw out their windows on the street. Adopt a highway or something like that. Build a bench for your local disc golf course or any park. Mow an old ladies yard, maybe she'll give you a gummer! LOL

Volunteering is the most rewarding thing you can do in your life. We go through life so cold and disconnected with the strangers we pass and have no idea on another person's struggles. Give back with a real human connection, whenever you can.
I've been a part of an organization for a few years that brings art to kids at group homes, shelters, and other less fortunate circumstances. They have a large selection of programs but to really get to know a group of kids they have a Weekly Mentor Program. A term is about 14-16 weeks long as a mentor. You meet once a week for only an hour and do a project with the kids, all of the materials are generally available at an office and all that is asked is that you return the items or donate more. The most touching moment was on the last meeting of my first term the oldest boy took my partner and I into their living room away from the other boys and told us how much it meant to him and the rest of the guys that we took time out of our day to come have free arts with them, he was so genuine that he started to tear up himself and quickly wiped away a tear and smiled. I was so caught off guard and it struck me straight through my soul. I've never had to hold back from balling in front of a teenager like that. I was blown away how much I made an impact on him.

Do any of your friends need favors or help with anything? I always get a smile when I help a friend and ask for nothing in return. Donate time to a good cause, volunteer somewhere.91 318is M50 swapped

thanks for all the suggestions guys :) I was at the grocery store today and a girl was next to me and i asked her which type of those little orange snack fish she liked best, cheddar or three cheese, she smiled and said cheddar definately, I told her thank you and she said no problem! I then said no, thank you for having such a beautiful smile, she blushed and I gave her a hug.
Im trying to make a nice gesture for someone everyday.. if you have any stories about something nice please do share !!
Thanks
