The Wikipedia entry cover the history pretty good. It was an excercise in plastic body panels, amongst other things.

Coo unique car indeed.
There's a local guy that imported trhee of them years back and has since sold off all of them. At a hefty profit at that.
They were originally designed with the intention of having replaceable body palles in different colors so you could swap them out.
But its too much of a hassle and the panels were pricey.
Although you can remove all the panels and drive around with just the chassis.
Also forget the wheel ...you can buy them on ebay almost all the time.
The rear end is what i would like to get ahold of!
