What kind of tires are on it now? How is the tread on them?

You say the parts will be dealer installed -- does this mean that all repairs done (i.e. head) will have the standard BMW dealership 1 year warranty?

How many owners? Was all work done at a dealership? Which dealership originally sold it?

As far as I know, it was always dealer maintained. The records they gave me are short but are all dealer repair orders and smog checks. The car has BFG tires on it now, with lots of tread all around, but 3 are dried out and cracking. I will probably replace the tires before I sell it, or get a nicer set of wheels with newer tires on there.
The work is being done at the dealer, with all factory parts, but it will not have a warranty as I am a tech there doing it as my own vehicle. I would have to spend retail price to get a warranty and that wouldn't make any sense. I will probably drive the car for a few months after I fix it while I try and sell it, so IF any issues come up with the work I will take care of them.

I got the head off today and sent it to the machine shop. As of right now, it looks are though it is just a blown headgasket. I will see what the machine shop says tomorrow and if it isn't cracked/warped it will get a valvejob and then go back into the car.
On a side note, I got to PDI out second E60 M5 today... Man that car is a badass machine... fun in the rain too!!

I never thought I would buy an E36 either Mariano... But I am making a good profit on this car, and with how slow work has been it is nice to have something to fall back on for making money with. I have been working on the car at work the past few days because there hasn't been any work for me to do on customers cars.
I got the head back on today and I will finish putting it all together tomorrow. I will have it running by the end of the day if all goes well so I can get a few miles on it over the weekend.
I installed new control arm bushings, changed all the fluids, did a 4-wheel brake job, replaced the cylinder head, waterpump, hoses, t-stat, and other misc small parts in the engine bay. The car is comming along well and should be a great car when I am all done.
