E30 door lock repair kit. Instructions are in German???

I ordered a door lock repair kit for my 91 318i. It wont lock from the drivers door, but will unlock. Seems to be a common problem.

Well I have all I need, and the reviews on pelican parts website says to follow the instructions carefully since there are a ton of tiny parts.

Well... it came with instructions, but they're in German. Does anyone have an English version?

For all those people who find it more convenient to bother you with their question rather than to Google it for themselves.

Yeah that google link is great and all. I found a great write up at http://www.billswebspace.com/BMWE30D...derRebuild.htm

However their car is a 2 door and BMW was gracious enough to provide them with a nice access hole to remove the clip on the lock cylinder.

Well I have a sedan, and apparently the doors are shorter. There is no access hole.

It looks like the only possible way to get that clip removed on a sedan, let alone reinstall it, will be to remove the entire jam assembly.

Is that correct? What a pain in the ass!!!!

Not correct. It's not too hard to do without injuring yourself. Just stick your hand up in there. Stick a screwdriver through an access hole. Have someone else hold the flashlight.

I Googled "Part number for BMW e30 lock repair kit" for you.

The first result (http://www.mesaperformance.com/faqs/centlock.html) contained this statement: "BMW has something called "Door Lock w/key repair kit" or something like that, BMW part number 51211924903 or maybe 51-21-9-061-343."

                  Another result (http://www.unofficialbmw.com/e30/int...der_rekey.html) says:

                  "Buy the appropriate repair kit:

                  51-21-9-061-343 (Central locking, left side)
51-21-9-556-313 (all other door locks) "

Good luck with that. Have fun.

                    Thank you sir.
Is there an easy way to tell if the car has oem central? I know mine does, not sure if oem or aftermarket. Doesn't work probably bwcuse of the jammed locks.

OEM unit is located underneath plastic protective panel underneath driver kick panel speaker. IIRC, looks like double or triple length relay.

I have the same problem as OP. I just installed the correct rebuild kit but the lock doesnt trip the central lock switch.

Im not sure wtf is up with that? I fought with this damn thing all afternoon.

My problem is a mechanical one. Literally the switch doesn't make contact with the central locking inhibitor. I tried bending the mount and it broke. :(

I guess I need to pick up this kit because I'm in the same boat. Tired of people asking why do you lock your car from the trunk? My reply... Because race car...
