By no means am I trying to take away from Nando's thread, but seeing the success of that I wanted to start my own as I'm doing the exact same thing.
Yesterday morning my brother and I left my aunt and uncles house in Chicago. We hugged, we cried, we waved goodbye knowing we may never get to see my uncle alive again. He's currently in a losing battle with cancer. He's one of the most inspirational people in my life, he's taught me more than my own father has. He's been battle MS for years now, been confined to a wheel chair for the last 5, hasn't been able to feed himself for about 4 now. Yet, 3 years ago he was laid off his job of 25 years (computer programmer) and the day he was laid off he was sending out resume's for a new job...the man can't even feed himself yet was trying to find work, that still blows my mind when I think of all the people in the world who are fully capable and do nothing.
So that's his background. 8 months ago they went to the doctors for fevers he'd been having...that's when they found cancer in his stomach, pancreas, kidney and one other place. He was given 6 months to live. That was 8 months ago and his health has turned for the worse. A recent visit he was given 1 month, 2 at the most. Even through all this he is still able to put on a smile and crack jokes and enjoy our company. I hope to get back up atleast one more time before the inevitable. I'm hoping for nothing more than for him to make it to his birthday in July, but also I'd give anything for him to be around when I do the ride in August but that's going to be pushing it.
So that brings me to my ride. I'm riding in Pelotonia which, like Nando's thread. Is a bike ride to raise money for cancer research. 100% of every dollar donated goes towards the Ohio State’s Comprehensive Cancer Center – James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute. I'm committed to ride 100 miles and need to raise $1800 minimum, obviously I'm hoping for alot more. Every little bit helps, if you have an extra $5 or you want to donate $100, it's all appreciated.
Here's a link to my profile
And a direct link to donate
My trusty steed for the ride.

Thanks,
Nick
