If you would have posted this a couple weeks ago, I could have pulled the linkage from the e30 320i at the Pick-N-Pull. It's gone now though.

after a discussion with Mike the head tech @ Pacificmotorsports, I found out the difference lies not in the rack or the linkages, but the spline coming out of the 318 column... iirc he said to adjust the whole column lower using the nut inside the cabin.

thanks guys, but as I said before, the problem ended up not being with the rack or the linkage, but the difference in the height of the 318 column, it was adjusted down and now my problems will be solved tuesday.
