If Derek hasn't installed it yet get it back from him. You'll spend $100 in shipping getting one from Europe (I'm assuming you won't be able to find a euro linkage in the states).

its a 318I steering column and 323I steering rack.

I'm shipping him an 86 325e rack, gunna see if that corrects the issue.

What exactly is it that you need? I can get something out to you maybe if the price is right and its not too terribly difficult to take out. Let me know.

its in his car, with the 323i linkage it allows you to run a 95 M3 rack without changing/modding the steering column.

Steering linkage from a 1983 323i, that exact part.

I can grab a part number if that helps.......

I put the 323i rack in, cause well it was the one we had to use lol.... But james is gonna be a pimp and send me a 325e rack wich i will use with the 325i linkage i already bought and see if that fixes this whole mess.

Is the angle of the rack different on the 323 rack? Could you just dremel down a 325 linkage to make it more flexable like the 323? All that having the 323 linkage did differently is had one end that was more flexable allowing for a more range af angles allowed from a rack.

BTW - Sorry about all this. I didn't know.

what the helle are you all talking about. The only dif. I have seen in steering racks is the different linkage between the power steering, and non power racks.

thats what i think also. mtriple went thru something similar when he installed his manual rack. he ended up buying a 100 dollar pice of linkage that cured it. you may want to ask him and see if your issues are similar

after a discussion with Mike the head tech @ Pacificmotorsports, I found out the difference lies not in the rack or the linkages, but the spline coming out of the 318 column... iirc he said to adjust the whole column lower using the nut inside the cabin.

So monday I'll know wether that cured it, if not Im just gonna throw in a 318 rack and linkage and say fuck it.

I still have my steering rack and column in my euro - manual rack. Might help, I dunno.
