dont hate because you dont know his story.

some people start working at 16. that would be would 6 years of not catching a break. even one year of tough times can be hard on anyone, no matter the age. sounds like he was scraping by before, hopefully this job will work out for him.

Why is it always with age? I've been in the restaurant business and bouncing from job to job since I was 15. I've been working, however, since I was 11 working on farms and construction help on the side. So I've already been in the workforce for over a decade now, I think I should get a little bit of a break.;-)

Update: I am two days into training now. I have invested 15 hours of class time and 12 hours of computer time. Tip to anybody having to go to sales academy or online training, get a fast running computer with Google Chrome or Safari for a browser. Also, when you make it on to the floor, invest in an ipad or something similar that has wifi capabilities. It will make your life sooooooooooooo much easier to get info to a customer and save you a bunch of headaches and time.

                  Warning: Long rant!!!

Well guys I hate to put this up but I quit my job today. Here's what happened. First, the dealership director is one of those typical egotystical pricks. Second, after seeing how we were suppose to handle customers I was astonished. I caught several salesman and him LIE to a customer, to their face, while making a deal on a used car. Lying about what the car was able to do feature wise and several other key factors when you are buying a used car. But what pushed me was this...

I was sent with a fellow Sales Rep. to go repo a car. A lady was TOLD she had 5 business days to finish the paperwork on her new car. I remember her appt. on Tuesday the 19th, the repo happened today (Friday the 22nd). She left the dealership happier than ever that she finally, for once in her life, had a nice, new, reliable car for her and her two little girls 14 years old and 6 years old. We pulled up to the address that we were suppose to pick up the car, IT WAS HER WORK PLACE!!!!!! Immediately I thought to myself "this isn't right". We walked in, asked for the receptionist to page her. She came in the waiting area and we told her that we had to repo the car. She started panicking because she's at work 1hour away from her house where her two girls were. After about 15 minutes of back and forth she started crying and asking what if something were to happen to her kids.

Ok so I called my director and told him the situation and asked if we can just pick it up when she got home that way we know she makes it home to her kids in time in case of emergency. "I DON'T GIVE A FUCK, GET MY CAR BACK! SHE CAN GET A TAXI FOR ALL I CARE!" I felt horrible about the whole situation because we stranded her at work while her kids were home alone. So when we got back I went for a smoke after slamming the keys on the director's desk and saying "here's your damn keys".

He came out and asked "YOU GOT A PROBLEM?" I told him that what he ordered us to do was wrong and that what he made me do to that SINGLE MOTHER is unforgivable and if that's how he treats his customers then I will have nothing to do with the team. So I walked out and told him, after a few choice words he said to me, " kiss my ass fuck head".

Financially stupid but I feel I made the right decision.

Yeah, I like to HELP customers. I like to help people and will work with people as much as I can because I know that things come up in peoples' lives. She was working 2 jobs by the way and explained to the dealership that she wouldn't beable to come in today because she was on a double shift.

Good call. I'm in sales too and after working in this shit hole I feel like no business is genuinely honest to its customers, most at least. Many customers have told me stuff like 'god bless you' just cause they can tell that I'm trying to help them when my boss is telling them I'm wrong and is obviously trying to sell them the more expensive stuff

In short, good, honest customer service will go a long way

Yeah, I'm just glad I figured out quickly what my limits are for money at a young age. I have my morals that I grew up with in a tight community, and that shit sticks with you. If something isn't kosher with you then fix it. I'll call her tomorrow, I still have her number saved in my phone, and see if she needs help with anything.

To the OP. Sorry it didn't work out. You are well rid of them. Dealers vary. I recently went to look at a Ranger ZX4 (Hey, I live in the foothills have to haul my own stuff) at Folsom Chevrolet. Having been pretty sure I wanted it, I got pre-approved by my credit union. When I went to talk with the credit manager I was all set to do battle. Instead she offered to enroll me in a different credit union and saved me $50.00 per month for the life of the loan. First time I drove out of a dealership paying less than I planned.

Sucks to hear, but I'll go ahead and ask the dick question.

All this bouncing around, is it ALWAYS that the boss/owner/etc is a dick who sucks at business?

No, I'll admit, I'm childish and need to grow up. This job I liked, and wanted to plant my feet there but seeing that, I couldn't be a part of that and have that shit on my consiounce.
