OP, I have to say, that was a good move. I'm also stuck in a job I hate but I have an exit strategy (savings plan for tuition). I feel you did the right thing if you were truly expected to do that sketchy shit.

I was in the same boat when I left the accounting world when I wanted to pursue performing arts. I was going thru jobs faster than I was changing my underwear.

Being an educated, well-spoken, fit guy, I had a sit-down wth myself and came to the conclusion that this financial "comfort" I was getting from many of these jobs was only temporary, and the economy was not going to support my jumping-ship every 8-10 months whenever I got sick of a job/workplace. It was time to take things into my own hands and follow what I always wanted to do.

I can honestly say, it was and continues to be the best choice I ever made for my career/life. Even random chics find it a total turn-on for a guy who strays from the pack and does what HE beleives in, not what he's been taught or co-erced into beleiving from everyone else (school, teachers, parents, friends etc.).

Hey guys just came back. I called the lady (Sarah) and asked if she would like to meet so that I could talk to her. We met at the park like a mile from her house. We walked around and talked for a while. I told her what happened when I returned and again gave her a sincere apology for what I had done to her and her family. I told her that the only reason why I had to take the car was for legal purposes and because the guy I was with (Rich) has a baby coming and I couldn't get him fired. We talked for a couple hours and she thanked me for "being a genuinely good person who cares for others more than his money". Before we left I told her if she needs someone to help with anything I would do my best to help her.
