Tips on how to polish BBS bolts/remove clear coat off lip...?

So I got some BBS RS', and I'm trying to polish them up. Took off all the bolts that hold it together, and they're not looking too clean..
Does anyone have any ideas on how to clean/polish them?

    ALSO..

I need to remove the clear coat that's on the lips. I've tried it with paint remover, but it's not doing a very good job.
I read around that Easy Off oven cleaner should take it right off? Is that true? And if not, what should I used to pull off all the clear coat?

More then likely it is a clear anodize, not clear paint, so paint stripper isn't going to do anything. Oven cleaner will remove anodizing, but will leave the surface very tarnished and oxidized, so they will need to be re-polished after removal.

Pretty sure it's clearcoat. Cuz it fails. Anno doesn't fail and turn yellow/brown and peel off, and let corrosion start underneath it. Cuz it's actually a "skin" that grows on the outermost layer of the metal.

Anyways, aircraft remover is your best bet in my experience. Never tried oven cleaner though.

As for polishing the bolts, put them in the chuck of a cordless drill and spin them against a wire brush, sanding block, buffing wheel, metal polish in a rag...whatever you got (and depending on the level of damage). Clear coat after or they'll need it again in 10 minutes

I used Klean-Strip aircraft paint stripper on both 17" & 18" RC's, it worked perfect, don't buy cheap stuff!

As for the bolts, I put them in a jar of vinegar for two days, then cleaned them with a wire brush as explain above

^ yep, you need that good paint stripper, not that environmental friendly hippy crap. To get the bolts looking really shiney, you are going to need to buy new ones. I just painted the bolts black on my other set of style 5s- because there was no helping them.

aircraft stripper, elbow grease, long nights in the gym, vinegar jars, putting each bolt in your drill chuck and spinning it against a brillo pad, and more muscle.

For the bolts go down to your local gun shop and pick up a vibratory cleaner ( made for cleaning cartridge cases for reloading ammunition ) and a bag of crushed walnut shells. Throw them in there turn it on and come back in two days, they will look brand new, trust me. As the long as the plating on the bolts was OK before they will not need to be replated, it will not damage the material.

If you got the skills, this is the cheapest you can go for cleaning the bolts....

Does anyone have an idea of how well the vinegar works on the bolts?

It'll work really well at stripping the plating off of them so they'll rust on your newly refinished wheels about 5 seconds after you drive through the first puddle you run across.

I think so. Don't most people do it?
