correct no dirt racing for my ix, its not setup that way and never will be.

final decision is ix w/ boost because i decided that i'd end up selling the rwd car soon after finishing for an e30 m3. If i break the car i'll address those problems when/if it happens.

i just wanted to say that we have a turbo ix here, which runs mid 12s in 1/4 mile. it has a m20b25 engine with the eta crack and mitsubishi evo pistons and ofcourse - a turbo and an EMS. it has about 3 times the power than a stock car has, somewhere 400-500hp.
these people say that if the transfer case is in perfect condition, the front differential will live longer. it breaks the front diff from time to time anyway - but its a allround race car. actually the guy drives it daily also. so having 300hp in an ix is no problem i figure. the car outruns all the subaru imprezas and mitsubishi evo's :D

we also have a ix here, that has an 3,2l m3 engine, but currenlty its RWD. but the owner is putting the FWD in for the next season. with parts from the 525ix it is sayd to be practically a straight swap.

that's pretty cool. too bad finding a 525ix around here is basically impossible. that's okay, I'll have plenty of fun with the M20.

Do what is practical, in this case: RWD.
Yes it is. That's why half the modded cars out there are out there. This is a "pour money down the drain" game any way you look at it - the ONLY thing you're going to get out of modding any car is personal enjoyment and satisfaction, so you should always go with what you WANT.

"Practical" is "not going FI on any 15-20 year old car."

If you're comfortable with and understand the increased chance of problems, I say go for it. My dad's got a modded '01 S4 that I drive often, and I can safely say there's nothing quite like excessive FI horsepower and all-wheel-drive :>. Weeee!
