That threw a wrench in things...

    Hey,

I'm on my way to work soon, but I wanted to get this post out before I left. Some may now my car history now. I've only ever had one, my '89 325i, drove it for three months, hydro locked the m20, swapped in an m50, haven't had the time to trouble shoot for more than 4 straight hours while visiting home (500 miles away).

I just graduated from university and I've been job hunting for a few months. I was hired on with a company and worked without a wage for the past two and a half months and still have two weeks to go before I will get paid. I'm not sure what my salary will be but I'm excited to start working full time and be paid.

This means I can leave my bar job that I work on the weekend, I'll have a steady salary, and I'll be able to pay off any debt that I have fairly soon. With this in mind I started thinking about what I want to do with my e30. I'll be staying in the same location for the forseeable future, which means I have to face another shitty winter that lasts 5 months. Because of this my e30 is now going to become a project car and it won't be winter driven, at least not in our kind of winters.

I've been thinking of other vehicles to get and I've always wanted a Jeep. I started looking and I've decided I'll save up five grand to go buy one in another province. Fly out, spend three days looking and then drive one back. That was until I went on a drive today...

It's a 1991 325ix. Has 275, 000 km on it. It's an auto targic, doens't have a lot of visibile rust, timing belt, brakes and other small things recently changed. The are asking $3500, but it's been list for some time now so I could probably do $2750-3000. I'm thinking that this might be my winter beater. I need to research ix's a bit more because I don't know a lot about them.

What does r3v think? Jeep or ix. Or something entirely different for 5 grand.

Keep driving it while its for sale for 3500. If someone buys it great, if not, who cares, just drive it

If you can get it for $2700 do it, but there's no beating a jeep in the winter. There just expensive.
I want a nice set of smoked MHW's (I know, get it line)

Take those wheels off if it's going to be a winter beater. Better yet, sell them to me.

I am going to call up and take it for a test drive when I get my first pay cheque.

And since I'm terrible with wheels, does anyone know the racing dynamics model?

that's a great price if the VC is not blown. jack the rear diff up and drive the car slowly back and forth. if it moves under just the power of the front wheels, the VC is good. if it doesnt move with the rear tires in the air, the VC is blown.

i loved my automagic ix. RIP. it also had RD wheels on it.
